Nice to see some more progress on the ork. The yellow looks absolutely amazing! The overall look is very good, can't wait to see it finished Great to see that you keep the quality of the skeletons so high even after painting so many of them, very nice!

Yep Skellie looks as good as the previous ones, should look great all together! Pilots coming along a treat, the pack is the perfect colour, have you decided what colour you're going for on the webbing yet?

Thanks guys, the straps on the harness are likely to be a bleached bone colour to give a good contrast to the other areas that they sit against.

I like the last skellie best, looks cool and the colours on the ork look really effective, this one will definately blow the old eyes out of the sockets.

Glad to hear it TIm! I excitedly and madly clicked the link to your WIP thread expecting to see a completed ork forgeworld pilot and a wip bust!! I'm sending a whole bunch of evil flying monkeys up north to whip you harder "Fly my pretties, fly......!!!!".
Seriously though, I'm on the edge of my seat in anticipation, and fantastic ork pilot by the way --- I'm loving the yellow especially. dfb

I have finally managed to start wor on something that has been staring at me for a while now, this is a very early WIP shot of dfb's Wizard bust. I only took a quick shot of it so the lighting balance isn't quite right and the face is a fair bit darker than it appears in this shot, basically I have the base colour of the skin down and have started this morning to add some shading, I'll be adding more colouration into the skin as I go which should prove interesting on a model of this scale. More photos will follow as I get more done.

Ooooh, I am liking the looks of this so far. Even with just the preliminary work you have done, the details are really coming out nicely!

Hey Tim, liking that base skintone ALOT!! I missed this post somehow, I think I left my world of minis tab in my browser open on my wip thread and forgot to go back to the index to track the new posts, doh!!!
I hope you have had time to do more over this weekend but as my saliva is beginning to drip I may well run out if anymore pics are posted!!
I think a bust of that size offers a great chance to anyone wanting to show off their skin painting skills, mine suck so I will need more practice before I tackle it myself!!! I think one of the guys at grey matter has made a hatband I will get them to post it out to you to help hide the join better. I did a touch up job on the resin around the join and sent them it last week or the week before. Look forward to more progress Tim!

Sorry mate been off the web for a bit as work and then last week a holiday in Scotland has put paid to any painting whatsoever, I am back in Wales again from tomorrow but will be cracking on with the bust again when i get back. Did you do anything about making something to cover the join on the head?

Tim, I see you have been pretty busy with projects since I last checked in. Really great stuff mate, your painting always looks clean and vibrant even when it comes across as dark and evil (the types of characters I mean).
Can't wait to see what you do with the bust.

Hey Tim, hope you had a good hol in scotland - mean to get there myself one day!! We have a rather loud scottish lady running our canteen and find myself frequently telling her that Hadrian didn't build his wall high enough though lol.
Regarding the band, I think one of the guys at Grey Matter made one, but I did actually forget to ask Tim about it, so I will do that. I think he made some kind of braided strap to go around it and I adjusted the master to improve the join area in general. He is pretty busy himself though as he is preparing for a model show and has had a lot of work come in from the states and has a contract with a new mini line from a famed sculptor. I think hes snowed under. I will let him know though. Look forward to seeing some more soon!!

Well it has been an age since I put brush to model or so it seems, but this weekend I have tried to put an end to this by starting one of the models from Space Hulk. The dead terminator has really got my attention and have finally taken the plunge into getting back into painting again, I wanted to paint something of my own to do this as I am so out of practice I thought it would be safer to risk my own minis rather than a commission piece. I still have a long way to go yet but essentially this is the look of the armour I am going for, I am not going to go mad on the highlighting and shading as I want to add alot of weathering and also some battle damage which would cover over any accurate highlighting/ shading. Hope fully this won't take me too long, I have got the other pieces of the model undercoated and ready for painting it is just a case of keeping focus around working away from home most of the time.

Such an unmistakable style mate, so clean.... i think it's a great return to the brush and you will know best what needs improving, my only subjective comment would be the contrast in the metals and the colours, i think they are on a different level of 'realism' that could be exciting but not for me at the mo

Tim, that red you knocked up is outstandingly vibrant and smooth, top work. The metal on the throne looks great and the weathering is something i'm looking forward to seeing!! Hope your mojo is now back intact,I know where you are coming from there - my sculpting mojo often comes and goes, Dr. Evil is at work..... dfb ps look forward to seeing some more progress on the bust

Wow it already is the best space hulk mini I've seen (no offense to all other space hulk painters )! The red is amazing! So is the skull. I always love how you paint the skulls, they always look good. In contrast to many others here, I guess, I would advise to not paint battle damage. It just looks so nice and clean now.... But that's just my perspective as a girl, and it's not very realistic of course for a dead marine.

That red is really coming out amazingly...
Also, if you don't mind, I would like to ask what recipe you use for the Ork skin, it is really well done and I might like to give it a go when I finally get around to painting some orcs up.
