The hair looks great, Tim. I'd agree with Bru on the darklining.

I also agree. I think, with your painting, the definition is absolutely there! I love the natural (even though in the movie it's bleached ) look of it, with the different tones.

Thanks guys, as for the darklining I am going to try and sort that out before the mini is finished.

I was asked recently if I would paint some of the Otherwold skellies. I agreed to do some and here is a WIP of the first one. The bone is pretty much done all that is needed to finish this is the shield still to be attatched and the axe plus base. The flagstone base is as requested by the client. This first one is more a test piece for the rest. The highlights are a little lighter in the light of day. The camera seems to have reduced them a little. I wanted the bone to look more dirty and old than the more bleached white skellies that are popular with GW.

Stunningly smooth blends and tones on what is a very skinny mini. After seeing it in real life, I have to say it's the best bag of bones I've evr seen.

Wonderfully dirty. I know I ask this several times a year....but what is the recipe you used for these?

This looks good - i hate the bright white GW ones and dirty skellies definately have a more realistic feel! Spot on.

Looks really nice Tim! The bones colouration is just right in my opinion.

Nice! I agree with dfb, it looks very realistic and dirty. Instead of looking like 'just another skeleton', it has character, great job!

Well here is the first one finished apart from the base. I'll be doing all the bases at the same time on these I think. I have tried to weather the axe head and shield a bit and I am pleased with the results. I have just applied the first undercoat to the next one so hopefully more progress will be made tomorrow.

Great metallics! The shield looks really battered, very nice Did you make the base yourself? If so... would you share how?

Very nice mate, at least it ain't been 'poo' playing. Good weathering on the shield. LOL you saw that then, I did remove it as I thought it a bit unfair, it was intended as a humorous comment rather than a critique. Thanks guys for the feedback. Maggy the bases are Heresy round flagstone bases that were sent with the minis as the client wanted them based this way.

LOL you saw that then...... Yep was sent straight to my email inbox, slightly shocked tbh. Well I did take it down almost right away and then apologized for the comment, but I will apologize again it was just a wicked thought that ran through my head at the time, I never intended to offend you and did in fact go on to say that your pictures were not doing the minis the justice they deserved as alot of the highlighting work you had put into them was just not showing up..

Right managed to get a good bit done on the second skeleton from the range today. I have positioned the sword arm low down. I wanted to try and create a look that shows the skellie struggling to lift such a big weapon. Hopefully it has paid off I know I like it this way though the blade is going to be a bitch to paint at this angle. Once all the bone work is completed I will then go back over and sparingly add a final highlight in some of the highspots.

Really great work on the skeleton! Perfect.
I think that the Otherworld skeletons are amazing, too. I am going to have to get some.

Nice! Thanks for posting the skellie in various stages of completion--it helps to give a better idea of how the progression you are doing.

I like the posture. It looks very fragile, which makes sense as it's a skeleton. Funny to see that you don't even give these ones a white undercoat, and still achieve these great light colours!

Man Tim your Skel's rock!
I think the side view portrays the feel of the "eavy metal" lifting needed to be done by the skellie!

Awesome! The skin is flawless. The grey cape is a bit flat, but that could be my I-don't-like-contrast laptop. The leather is perfect, like always.

Thanks the cape is supposed to be weatherstained, I tried a different approach by mixing in Kommando Khaki into Black it looks ok in the light of day so I don't think I'll be changing it.
