Very nice work mate! What happened to her hand? Yet to be attached. And it is a he...doesn't bother me, but he might take offense. These are Vale Archers, a set of 3 from Reaper's Warlord line. Sculpted by Werner Klocke.

This figure is very much how elves should look in fantasy terms, atleast how i used to imagine them before Warhammer and Lotr movies!
I realise it's a WIP, so i'm sure you'll be bringing up the highlights a bit... cool basing too.

Here is the second of the three. She has a ways to go yet as well as missing her hand . I thought the skin was done, but the camera never lies...I like her eyes very much, but the nasolabial folds between the nose and mouth are too dark, giving her an almost feline look. I sort of like the effect, but I think I'll do some glazes to tone down the transition between the folds and the cheeks. The tunic has some additional highlighting compared with the first archer. I was going with progressive shades of lighter green, but I think I might highlight will more of a yellow green instead.

8-)The eyes are excellent, you have captured the pose perfectly with them and although i would normally say they look a bit big for the scale they suit the mini.... Go with a yellow mix to the highlight or you'll be painting for years trying to get it with green ...and possibly finish with a touch of skull white or bleached bone, depending on what way the colour mixing with yellow goes. Personally i'd like to see this mini away from the realistic look, so +yellow then +yellow+white

Here is a quick one I did tonight--this has got to be a personal record for me! I am going to use it in conjunction with the elves I am doing. I was going for a granite look for this one, along with some weathering. I am toying with adding a touch of either flock in some of the crevices or perhaps some greenstuff/wire for some vines creeping up the pillar--a work of art is never finished after all....

that looks great, veery stonelike indeed, some green and brown washses of very very thin paint in places would help it look aged too. I have thid mini but never found a use for it yet.

Thanks for the link, Bruenor! I have been needing an excuse to get some of that brass etched stuff...
Tim--guess I'll go back and hit it again with some more washes. I did a very thinned down mixture of VMC Flat Green and VGC Charred Brown in most of the cracks and crevices, but it didn't photograph too well.

In my never-ending quest to Keep Messing With Minis I Thought I Have Completed Campaign (tm) or KMWMITIHCC, here is some vegetation on the Pillar of Good. I added some flock in a few spots. The creeping vine is far from being done--it was an idea I had to create the scale I wanted--what do you think? It is some floral wire (not sure of the gauge) with some medium sized ballast glued to it. I'll have to judicious with it, so as not to cover the mini too much, but I like the effect. Comments?

Yeah, quite nice. Works well, the colour I mean, as it looks old and well grown, if you know what I'm getting at. Nice effect, and I would guess a damn sight cheaper than the brass etched stuff.

Going great guns on this mini, it looks a beauty of a sculpt to paint. The bow string is such a great addition and you've kept it in scale which helps (seen some bow strings Arnie couldn't bend!), and i particularly like the hair. Istill think the greens could come up a few highlights, more on the upper torso...and obviously the bow isn't finished Look forward to the finished piece JW

Here is a very early WIP shot on the diorama base I am working on for the Vale elves and Caerwynn. Just the basics down (and not even completely at that)--I'll be adding some trees on the rear right of the scene, once I cover the cork rocks with some more flock. The area is a small elven shrine along the edge of a forest clearing. I am thinking about some small bushes along the step off as well. The axe in the front is for story telling. My idea was that this band of elves are in pursuit of trespassers of their land. The interlopers have already been beaten, but are being hotly pursuited. The axe will be broken and rusted up a bit to give it more of an "orcish" look to it. I'll probably add a piece of torn clothing or something like that as well. I am a bit hung up on the transition between the more "leafy" bases I made for the archers and the more "grassy" base I made for Caerwynn. Once again, it is really best not to take 4 years to complete your unit.... LOL. Any other suggestions?
