very nice work.
Something I noticed (and this is not meant as a criticism): I find this mini more cartoonish in style then most of your other work, did you went for this effect on this mini, or can it be that your painting style is changing ?
Again not meant as a criticism just an observation.

Hmm I guess you could call it that but I painted this in the same way as I paint all my Orks with the exception of the warpaint which is probably contributing to that look. Any way glad you like it.

Very nearly finished with this one now just a couple of little things to sort out and that should be just about that but one thing I can't decide is whether or not to add any static grass and leaves to the base so opinions on that would be nice. I want to get this finished as I had started it before doing the Ork from WD 345 and I kind of got sidetracked by that so I am glad now that this is nearly done too.

I think a few leaves would be a nice touch. One other thing--were you going to add any gore to the axe blade? Definitely not a necessity, but with the medusa head it seemed to make sense to me; although if he has been carrying that around in a bag for a day or two, he would have had time to clean the blade.

I'm not sure what "stonkingly" means but if it is anything like amazing, I wholeheartedly agree! Did you change up the skintone recipe up for this one? The shading seems a bit different.

Thanks guys, I have changed the skintone slightly only in as much as I have left alot of the shading I do to start in place and only highlighted the uppermost parts of the cheeks I then went back and lightly glazed the lower most parts of the cheeks and around the mouth with the new Citadel purple wash the effect is visible even in these pics as you have noticed Sean but even more so in reality.

Thanks much for the tip! I picked up the entire line of the new GW washes--I haven't played too much with them, although I did use them on a couple of minor details with the WoM entry.

Right despite feeling like shite all day with chest pains I've managed to ge more done to this little fella inbetween sessions of World of Warcraft, I would like to say at this point that this is an ace mini except for the feet which are really badly done, I can't believe the sculptor took so much time making a face full of character and a great model with really crappy feet that look like nothing more than spaggy feet no matter how you paint them. Believe me I've tried several times hence now his feet are armoured I know that doesn't really fit the character but this is really the best I could do for them. So here he is, I tried several different colours for the feet to make them look like cloth bandaging and they all looked wrong even so bad that at one point the feet looked just like two cottage loaves sticking out of the bottom of his trouser legs.

Really nice, as always. How did you get the textured look to the weathering on the anchor? That really make it pop.
