The silver was done very simply by painting a base of Boltgun Metal and then giving it a wash of black ink, then I reapplied the Boltgun Metal, the paint is very thin and this allows it to look fairly smooth, successive stages were done first by a 50/50 mix of Boltgun/Chainmail, then Chainmail on its own, then a 50/50 mix of Chainmail/Mithril Silver and then Mithril Silver on its own, obviously working the lightest tones to the top edge of the blade and then the contrast is given on the flat of the blade by making the lower area the lightest part.

Looking good mate,
I really can't wait to see that gandalf finished. The rest will look good too.

Well major disaster, things haven't been going well and today I finally lost my temper and now the Wolfen has been consigned to the bin beyond repair. I will have to try and calm down before I risk painting again.

Yeah I threw a model against the wall once. Though it was not limited edition or superly painted...
Hope to see the others come along.

My painting has kind of gone off recently so it may be a while before anything surfaces

Don't worry you know it'll come back Tim. Just don't do it like me, that a disaster cost me 3 years without painting last time. I've regret it ...

Oooh...yeewotch. Don't go near those Dragyri while you're in that mood. Take a break, Tim. Go for a hike or canoeing, play with the kiddies. Hobbies should be fun.

Good advice there Pr0fane, I had a bit of a bad week with one bit of bad news after another following the ups of being with my daughter but now things are back on an even keel, I will be getting back into it again now.

Well I am trying to get back into the swing of painting, and this is what I am up to, I wasn't going to put it up until it was finished but I thought what the hell and here it is, It is the Heresy Fallen One mini, now the skin is not done yet and also it looks alot brighter than it actually is due to the lighting, but so far I like it and it is slowly getting me back into painting.

I like it, although the pic is a bit small to comment on it. The wings are fitting. I suppose you haven't touched the weapon yet, right? Looking forward to seing a next stage wip, Tim

Looks well done, good job!. Why dont you focus all this demon-painting energy into a balrog eh?

I would do but I don't have one anymore I traded it. Maybe when the new plastic one is out I'll give it a go.

At the same time as painting the Fallen One I am also painting this guy (it makes a nice diversion from red) Very early WIP but I like it so far,

Thanks for the feedback, well here is an update to this tough guy, I am liking this mini alot which is saying something for me as I usually hate Elven minis from the Warhammer range.

Looks great Tim, love the whole thing. Why dont you post the progress of your CG?

Post by Tim C on Jul 11, 2006 20:13:04 GMT
The CG is for the painting school on O-R and can only progress as fast as the others are doing theirs. So I think I will leave that one.
