After having bought the Assault on Black Reach set I have began work on a Salamanders Space Marine army, starting with my Captain. Here he is so far: Sorry about the lighting getting in the way on most of the pictures. Hopefully the next set of pics I take will be in better lighting. Comments and Criticism welcome! Thanks, Jake.

Nice start mate, I'll watch this one with interest. To be honest I think though the cammander is good it is the weakest mini in the AoBR set.

Thanks Tim. I like all the new models aswell although I prefer the Orks to the Space Marines. Hopefully I'll get more done on this guy later on when I've gotten Varghulf out the way finally.

A little aside the Salamanders: Finished Painting Varghulf for a friend of mine today and thought I'd share the results with you all. I've been working on it (or rather not working on it) for months now so It's about time it was finished! I'm proud of this model and am considering buying myself one now  Comments and Criticism welcome. Regards, Jake.

Wow, Varghulf looks fantastic. I love the wings on him. Your captain looks very good too. I don't know if your finished with the face or not, but you could probably push the highlights a little more to pick out a tad more.
Looking forward to the finished product and again, great job on Varghulf!

I think you have done a decent job on what I personally think is not a good mini to be honest. Your friend should be very pleased with it.

Nice color choices on Varghulf. What color did you use on the skin on the wings?

Thanks guys! The wings were Dwarf Flesh Basecoat. Wash of Ogryn Flesh and highlighted Dwarf Flesh. Sorry for those wanting to see Salamanders but again... aside from the Salamanders I have been painting the Assault on Black Reach Ork Warboss and so far painted his head (note I did use one of the Ork Nobz heads as an alternate to the warboss Head). C and C welcome as always. Thanks!

I have changed the Iron Jaw so the scratches stand out more (although in these following pics it doesn't look much different s=due to the angle of the lighting). More updates (Power Klaw isn't finished): Comments and Criticism welcome. Thanks, Jake.

Looks great mate, especially that power claw I would alter it too much as it looks nice and grimy just how an orky add on should do.

While unfortunately no more has been done on the Warboss I have completed a commision Nurgle Chaos Warhound (no... not a titan ) and my New Chapter Master for my new Chapter: Only 20 more of those to paint up! My converted Chapter Master Arminius of the Prophets of Vulkan: I am pretty happy with him for one sitting. C&C welcome. A bit of fluff so far for the Prophets of Vulkan: The Regal Watch are distrusted by the Imperium for previously joining with the Black Legion to rid the universe of a certain Tyranid Hivefleet. They continously attempted to gain the trust of the Imperium back but failed, for all the Imperium cared, they were named Renegades. However, they managed to gain the trust of one Space Marine Chapter... The Salamanders.
The Salamanders thought that The Regal Watch could become useful for Special Ops missions and so took them in as a Special company called the 19th Company (although they are a seperate chapter in their own rite). It had to be kept quiet as the Vulkan He'stan knew, that is this alliance was found out by the Imperium, The Salamanders would become Excommunicated! Vulkan renamed their Chapter 'The Prophets of Vulkan' and sent them on various Special Missions, one being intercepting an Unexpected Ork Attack on Armageddon.
The Prophets of Vulkan work for the Salamanders, spreading their name across the Galaxy making sure enemies such as The Orks and the Tyranids fear them. They destroy Ork Worlds and Tyranid Fleets leaving behind nothing but a Salamander Standard. That's a small amount of Background for you to get a small peak at what this Chapter is going to be like. Hope it's ok.

Cool! I really like the greenskin on the hound! Excellent little background as well on the Regal Watch.

The hound is good but the marine really needs a bit more effort in all areas to make it a standout mini, I am assuming this is a mini that is not part of a squad and is a character in its own right so therefore it should have just that little bit more time and effort put into it.

Hello everyone, I'm here with a long due update, I've actually been incredibly busy the last few months which is why you haven't seen many things from me on the hobby side of things recently however I've had a little bit of time the last couple of days to try and squeeze in some painting. And from now on I'm going to try and pull my finger out and get at least one model painted a month . So here's the first WIP Project that I started on Saturday. It's the GD09 Chaos Lord that I bought off a freind (unfortunately I'm not going this year) and I have to say it's a lovely model and a joy to paint so far. I've decided to go for a Bronzey-goldish Brass Lord of Khorne style colour scheme with the majority being gold armour with a red cape and other coloured details here and there. Currently I've only done the gold and a couple of silver metallic areas aswell as the cape (which I may well go for another highlight with). As for the horns, they're still very WIP as I haven't actually come up with a scheme for them yet, definitely not doing it the way I painted the one complete horn though as I think it's far too bright. I will probably end up working up and blending from Scorched brown through Bleached Bone eventually to a dab of Skull White on the tips. I also need to do some more higlighting on the fur at the top of the cape. Enough blabbering on, here it is so far: Comments and criticism much appreciated as always. Thanks.

Wow it's been a while since I posted on here. My latest project is a Lucius the Eternal. So far I've painted the face, part of the whip and have started on the left shoulder pad to test out how I'm going to paint the armour and metal areas. Took a while to get the face to a colour that I liked but I think I'm finally there. As for the whip, also took me a while to blend it properly but after a couple of attempts I think I've managed to pull it off. Still some highlighting on both the blue and the red sections though. For the metal areas I've gone for a rusted metal colour though it's still got one or two more metallic highlights to be added. The flesh on the other hand is still in early stages and has only just had a basecoat and a wash so far. The base is all finished except the Space Marine helmet which I cannot paint untill I get a Dark Angels Green (so that I can ridicule my main opponent). Comments and criticism always welcome. Cheers.

Wow, the base is really bright in the photos. I can even see a bit of a glare (no joke!). The face looks great, though the close up photo is a tad blurry, it's difficult to make out the fine details. I like how this is going so far, and the whip turned out really well, especially where you have some blending between the red and blue. Keep up the good work!
