Yep I have heard and also read in an article on Cmon that using real blood can give good effects. You can get it from your local butchers for next to nothing or if you are depressed then just cut your own wrists. I have also heard that over time it ruins brushes though.

Wow that's pretty awesome Ian The bandages and blood stains are really cool. The cheques and weathering is also very cool. As for blood, I have tried it before. I remember one time I accidentally cut myself with the hobby knife while moddeling. On my desk was a cave troll with a chopped of head on the base, so I though, why not try to use real blood around the chopped of head? When the blood dried it turned to almost black though But I think I'll stick to acrylic colours ;D

Real blood oh yes. I can think of a ready made source from some of my work colleagues or my neighbours. Do the donors have to be standing by so you can dip the brush in or do you think collecting it into a bucket would be better.
Maybe if we advertise we could help the NHS with their blood donor campaign.

Any chance of bacterial growth from using real blood?

That base is awesome, thanks for the inside scoop on how to do it. One small suggestion, for the cables you could paint each one to better represent IRL (red, blue, black, and white).

Hey rogue, the chain looks very effective, i dont think its scruffy really!!! You've done the patterning right and I say good job, gets the thumbs up from me.

the chain looks fine to me, the rings are a bit large but then it is 54mm. Its close enough that a good paint job should fix up the 'soft' look of the sculpting.

i like the conversion with the chainmail thing but i personally dislike the idea of heads even though there well sculpted and at first when i just got this mini i was uncertain of what was in his hand but i realised shortly it was the scabbard for his sword (doh *slaps head)

I'd leave the trophies on, they look cool. Like the Chainmail too, looking forward to seeing some paint on this one.

Looks good, if you are going for a rusty base effect then try painting the base with Dark Flesh, then stipple on Vermin Brown/ Fiery Orange and then Blazing Orange carefully. Then dry brush the base Boltgun Metal and then Chgainmail and finally just pick out a little bit here and there with Silver. I am painting a rusty base at the moment for a mini and will show a picture later of how it looks done this way.
