Nice opener, the tank looks good I think add some weathering and you will have a corker. The IG also look cool I love the forgeworld models. A bit early for any real critique but the obvious highlights comment springs to mind.

yeah the ig are very early on, only just started them, highlighting will follow, same with the leman russ, its going to match up with my chimera so that will be weathered.

Nice colour scheme, i love the fw cadian addons and desert colours seems to suit cadians alot more than the standard greens.
Cant wait to see how this army develops

cheers guys, however......me and the fw cadians fell out and in short they need stripping, i have tested a few small bits of resin and it looks as if i can strip them without losing any detail or other ill effects, will let you know when i have done a couple more testers, in the meantime i am going to do a proper display mini with a fancy base and that see below:

The cadian army is really looking good now. Can't wait to see a few units finished. It looks like (correct me if I'm wrong) you have used drybrushing on the Leman Russ, and I think it looks really good, and that type of technique suits that type of model (but belive me, I don't work on space marine tanks!).
The inquisitor retuine guy looks cool too. Btw what's that stone? Is it slate? Can you pin it? Where can you buy it? Sorry for all these questions mate, I have allways wanted to make a base like that, but all normal rocks break when I try to pin them.

Excellent work on these Rogue. The tank is looking great so far. I agree with Tim a bit of weathering is needed. Sorry to hear about the Cadians--I did like the color scheme you chose, though. Looking forward to seeing how the display model progresses.

well, thanks everyone, no new pictures yet as i am working on my mm compo entry and pics are not allowed , @mutantpotato, the base is slate, i buy little bags for my fishtank for £1.50 from a store in doncaster and they have about 5 or six bits like that in them, and the tanks is drybrushed. a full unit of cadians will be on the way soon after i finish my compo entry and the display model. cheers guys and girls ;D ;D ;D

For the slate have you tried a garden centre. I picked up a large bag ( a lifetimes supply) for £3.50. It's supposed to be for laying around the plants.

Great work mate, I can't wait to see more! By the way, basing with slate is very nice idea... I might have to try it myself. But why buy it when you can find it?

because there are no slate quarrys near me and its not generally found on the street!

Slate is not always easy to find in the Uk you have to live in an area where it is indigenous to the landscape like Wales, so that is why we buy the stuff. Try and find slate around where I live and you will be searching for a long time. Anyway I love that mini rogue and look forward to seeing it painted.

Oops, I thought there was quite a lot of slate in Derbyshire but I checked with Azog and found I was wrong...

The red looks awesome matey. I got no suggestions as I am terribly bad at painting red ;D

I'd go for a deeper red in the shading, you could try some gore red mixed with a touch of black and work it back in thin glazes... to highlight you may try blood red with a touch of blazing orange but the problem at the moment seems to be the depth

|
Post by roguetrader on Apr 5, 2007 14:33:22 GMT
by glaze, what do you mean, thinned with water or using a glaze in the mix?
|
|
|
Post by menace on Apr 5, 2007 14:43:46 GMT
You could do either whatever is your preferred method of shading back, with water is just fine if you feather it to make sure you don't get 'tide marks'!

You could also add a touch of purple or blue into the black for the shading, which will further enhance the illusion of depth. Especially if you red hot spots almost hit orange or yellow. As the blue/purple will detract and the yellow/orange will attract the eye.
