Do you get sick pay Tim? If so, take a week off sick so they can't stiff you over working for nothing. Good luck with the job hunting mate, maybe a change in direction willl bring better luck and happiness, you never know!

Tim I do deeply sympathise with your plight. 2 Months ago I was told that I was to be made redundant at the end of June. The company has been shedding people for the last two months and then announce a 5% wage cut even those on redundancy notice. It also means losing the car as I have only ever had a company car that was a little hard. Then yesterday I was told they had realised they needed some one to do the job I was doing but as I was only on secondment to that job it would be a new role.
So would i like the new job at a reduced wage, no car but i would have a continuation of employment. To be honest I bit their hands off and said yes, these days what choice do you have.
One of the reasons I have not been here to much lately as for the last couple of months I have felt like sh&t and getting more and more depressed with my lot. BTW I am guessing you have checked with ACAS and the ACAS web site there is a lot of info there and they were very helpful to me, as the way the company had gone about the redundancies may have lead to a court case.
One thing that got me through a little while the axe was over my head was all the time i would have gotten to paint. Mind you I may have had to do the painting at the DSS office or sitting on a park bench.
I wish you well and hope that everything will come good in the end.

I feel for ya Tim, I really do.
While we are on the topic of work, I've been trying to get back into employment, and what a fucking waste of time and effort it is around my area. There is absolutely F**K ALL!!!!
While commission work keeps ticking us over, theres not as much of that as I'd like, as more and more painters are turning their hands to it, and to be honest I don't blame them its an easy way to a few quid or free minis.
Hopefully something will come along, but until then it's trips to the Job Centre to show my willing.

Yep at the moment the state of the employment industry is dire, this is new territory for me as the railway has ALWAYS been easy to move about, in 20 years I have never been unable to find a new position in a company until now.
