Will you tell me what colours you use for your drow skin if I ask very nicely? I'll be watching this space for updates. Cheers, Wolf

I will try my best to make it as explicit as possible, but if you like the flesh tones on my Desdemone i can give you that recipe, and it's a piece of piss to do!

What's a drow army? Dark elves? In one Mikkel, but i'm going to base my dark elves on the fantasy of r.a.salvatore, and use the colours from the illustrations by tim seeley

Greyish skintones, if I'm not mistaking. And yes, I would like the recipe for your desdemone's skintone as well. (Still learning different ways to paint things, so I'm gathering all the info I can get. ) Cheers, Wolf Fang

For desdemone i started with a dark base of Gw dark flesh & Gw Liche purple, about 3:1 and added enough raw umber to kill the saturation... i can't give this rationally as it is by eye i then just went up in many secutive highlights with elf flesh and at the final highlight i added a little skull white with a little raw umber ( about 50/50 ) it may look grey in the crappy pic but there is a blue grey/ purple tint from the finished piece.. hopr this helps

Here's the first of my tabletop army, i'm still finding it difficult to come to terms with not going the extra mile but at home i'm really happy with her. This is the Keeper from the Cau;ldron of blood boxset, i have converted her to be one of my legions sorceresses; You'll be able to find this army amass on cmon as well, but on Kristines account, she never uses it so i thought it would be cool to have the table top stuff there the username is ZanCarla, a bit girly but sure... DE's are ruled by females (and so are humans although not so directly!")

Next up the Champion of my 'House of Baerne' Unit, a rare choice in WFB, the black guard... my army will be 'The Army of the Black Spider', stolen unashmedly from the 'War of the Spider Queen' novels... the basic mini was a black guard champion which i filed down the bastard sword and made it one handed, reshaped the arm and used a sheild from the cold one knights, i'm very happy with the experiments on this guy, the purple armour is Golden inference paint mixed with liche purple.. it cost a fortune and i don't recommend it, not as smooth as GW metallics but it can be coloured however you like, 600nrk (about 45 GBP)!!!!

Next up, my 'House of Baerne' musician, the freehand on the drum is indicative of the logo i will use throughpout the army; i'm now basing up all the troopers and standard bearer to complete this unit, i will hawever be making a conversion that allows me 2 black guard units in my army! keep watching this space!!

Your table top is about as good as my best mate, really awesome work.
I really like the simple, yet effective, base work. I also love the skin tone. And that freehand spider is amazing.
Wow, mate, if you do the entire army to this same level it is going to look awesome.
Great work, no real critiques, just simple praise.

Stunning painting mate. I couldn't even hope to achieve a level like that on my display models. Cheers, Wolf Fang

Thanx guys, the Drow are R.A.Salvatore's creation in the Forgotten Realms, they are outcasts from the world above that live in the Underdark, an evil and ultimately powerful race yet one that through it's belief in chaos constantly fights with itself! Drizzt Do'Urden is the most well known 'hero' as a rebel against the system of 'Station' but the novels as in War of the Spider Queen' are much more interesting... check out artwork by 'BROM' and you will see where i got the inspiration for my very Dark elves And thus a feast or famine!,,, here's the Queen Bitch to Lead my ranks of pure nastiness

I think you sell yourself short MK, your work is excellent, the problem as with many 'artists' is that u r your own worst critic, much of your work exceeds this standard in my opinion, i know i spent a little more time on it than i'd hoped but i really do consider this stuff for hitting the tables pretty soon!! YEEHA, and i hope they wreak as much havoc as possible, i'm sick of being whupped as the good guys, now i can fire on the move too,,,

Wow! These minis are totally awesome themselves, but an army of them! Can't wait to see the entrie army ;D I am not at all a fan of the dark elves, but these models are just awesome. Personally I stick to earthy natural colours, but the colours you have chosen here suit the models very well. I just love the theme and mood.

A quick WIP, this is Aenur from the Mordheim range but for my purposes he is now Nimor the Anointed Blade, Dark Elf Assassin. The photo's not the best, the missus dropped our Camera and broke the sharp lens, 8 weeks old So it's back to standard lens that came with the camera and it's not so good. Anyhow, i'm stickin' to the theme of the Underdark throughout this army, so just the stuff under the cloak to do here; I'm also making display bases for the units of 12, it's basically a plastic box frame, a piece of thick card and 12 squares cut out (watch those fingers!) and pva and lots of broken up slate;

Brilliant. Always been a fan of Aenur and you made him look even better than the GW version. I might try painting up my Selafyn model like that as well if you can tell me how you did it. The display base looks ace as well. One concern I have is that the Sorceress seems a little bit out of place with the large amount of red involved. Cheers, Mil
