Now I'm not normally a man who shows his wippy's, as I tend to go paint the mini, and don't stop until it' done if I don't have to, but as I'm on Hols this week and have some time on my hands I thought I'd show you one of the things I'm working on........ Wanted to get a more stone feel to him, not the bloody bright blue that GW gives them, after all he is Stone Troll, and you'd have though he'd want to blend in a little to be able to catch those yummy humes, not stick out like a big blue thumb!!!! Thanks Bruenor

He is looking really good. He looks a bit like Allan Carcasso's troll. Good colour too, but I'm not so sure about the purple cloth I would paint him a little darker, but that's just me, I paint everything too dark ;D

Thanks,
The purple is just the basecoat, it'll be a lot lighter, and when the fur bit on the cloth's done it'll look different, I wanted a contrasting colour to the skin. The skin may get another darker wash before he's done, but I'll have to see what he turns out like first.

nice, i like the new skin tone.
I was looking through some of my wd's form the 80's and those models are some of the oldest WFB minis still produced!

Thanks.
Starnge that, what with all the other races getting a remake, the Dawrfs getting several, you'd have thought they'd have redone the Trolls at some point, maybe with the new remake of the Orcs and Goblins, they'll go and spoil the Trolls now like the on in Battle For Skull Pass.

Looks good thus far, Bruenor! I think the skin tone looks a bit washed out because of the background as much as anything.

Mmm I see no Orcs, but I do like what I can see, especially the charnel hound. Very nice James. I have not been painting much this week I have some decorating to get on with and so have been doing that.

Interesting start on the Orks, I am guessing it is green ink over the white, I will keep a watch on this with interest.

Kinda got it right, it had a very thin wash of Catachan Green over the grey undercoat, then a couple of green washes, then a C.green and C.Black wash, not sure whether to highlight the skin or not, I kinda like it the way it is........opinions?

I think it needs the highlightin a bit, it is not quite there for me at the moment. It is difficult to say with no other colours on the model to act as contrast.

Great work Bruenor. Lots of half finished minis at once ;D I would suggest not using inks on flesh. The flesh tend to come out glossy, use a green wash instead. I only use inks on metal. Great minis though, can't wait to se them all finished ;D

Thanks guys,
I'll probabaly add a little highlight to the skinmaybe a bit of ritting flesh mixed in the green, but not much tho, and the Dullcote I use will take care of the shine.

I'd highlight it quite a bit for me.. it looks like it's only at the midtone stage for now, but if you like it try highlighting atleast the high spots...liking it so far though

Nice looking giant, the very reason I didn't buy one myself was because I knew that I would never paint such a big model.

Yeah, I ummed and ahhed about it myself, but then realised that one day I may need a Giant in my Heroquest games, so that pushed me to buy him, then I converted him by adding the shoulder armour from Masters of the Universe He-Man, who just seemed to be the right size to have them stolen.
I also have that Giant Slayer that's stood looking up, to go with him.
