Ok, so I have finally decided to start painting this fabled Elrond I have been wanting to do for months. When this was posted, I am waiting for the Flesh Wash to dry, so I will put some pics up soon!
Watch this space!

The next time I post I will probably have pics to show! Or not... I think I screwed it up big time and frankly I'm really not in the mood to try and paint him today. Basically, it looks crap, I'm not happy with it at all so don't even bother looking at this as there will be nothing to show...

Ok, so after a whole afternoon of moping and being mardy about how I can't paint I have decided I want to try him again. So I need to get a whole load of paint stripper on him, wash off the crap paint job and start again. So maybe you will eventually see some pics...

Well with the new painting area ready to go I thought I'd start on something new... and Gimli was the mini I chose. I've started on his axe so far and as soon as I can get some pictures then I'll put them up!
At the moment, the camera is messing up so taking decent pictures is a two man job... lol. I'm pretty pleased with it so far anyway, so watch this space!

It is possible to take pictures but the macro on our current camera is sh!t... 4 inches! But, things are looking up as we are buying a new one! Macro can get you up to 2cm away! So in a few days (Wednesday at latest) I'll be able to get some uber-close up pictures.
Anyway, today I've worked on some more small metal details like the chainmail coat underneath and metal on the helmet.

Hey hey hey! Pictures at last! ;D The camera came yesterday (and its a beaut) but it was too late to take any pictures as there was no daylight. Now they're a bit blurry as I'm a very amateur photographer. Anyway, this is what I have. Image 1 - Helmet and (blurry) axe shot: Image 2 - Better axe and (blurry) helmet shot: Image 3 - Good all round shot plus chainmail: Image 4 - Top of helmet shot (and my wonderful skin ) Tell me what you think. Comments and criticism appreciated!

Good start mate, shade the silver with a mix of black and brown ink, more black than brown though. If yo add a touch of washing up liquid in and I mean just a touch then and add a little water to it this will help it flow better into the recesses. The gold is looking good too. Look forward to seeing it progress.

Thanks guys, now I've posted up some pictures I feel I can get on with some more now! Tim, I'll be sure to try that, although I'm a bit unsure with inks and how to use them properly...

They are not that hard, all you need to remember is to thin them a little, not put too much on, it is better to build up the layers of shade slowly than to try and get the effect with one heavy coat. If you put too much on there is every possibility that it will run into places you don't want too. So remember carefully does it.

Well I've done it and it looks good! Orc blood is that kind of black colour isn't it? So it looks like ihe's got blood on his axe.... anyway, I'm going to go over one bit again as I did a bit too much but other than that its been positive!

Definitely a great start mate. Not sure if you should even dirty that blade up with blood at all.
