I took a break from making bases so I could get a start on Ghazgul Thraka. I am painting the head seperately since the jaw section covers a bit of it. I will be putting some more rusty tarnish effect on the skull cap and possibly another highlight on the skin. But this evenings work resulted in this...

The skintone is great, and I like the colour change for the lower lip. If the whole model is as good as this then it will be awesome. I am going to start mine as soon ans I have recovered from hurting my back which at the moment is killing me.

I am painting the head seperately since the jaw section covers a bit of it. You are a wise man, and obviously have more experience painting orks than I do...kind of wishing at the moment I had done the same, hehe. Cramming my brush into the nooks and crannies under that monstrous noggin is a pain in the rear...

Thanks for the kind words guys. I have finished the head, had to redo the gem and smooth out the teeth transitions after my first "complete" photos (the camera always tells you where you went wrong! ) Now I just need to clean the mold lines from the arms and attach them and I will start the body.

Hey guys I just realised my Ghazgull has something missing. He has stick bomb chukkers and horns just above and beside his head normally. I got mine through an online auction and these bits were missing (I didn't realise at the time). I will have to order them through the uk store as Aussie doesn't have parts ordering as far as I can see. I will keep painting though as I think I can add these afterwards.

Can't criticise any effort here so far, great work. I hope the event brings out as much ability in the rest of us!

WoW the metallic rust is fantastic! Perhaps a small tutorial on how you've managed that?

Dude! That is bloody amazing! The blood on the claw looks real! You didn't cut yourself and the blood dripped on it and you thought, "Hmm... that looks good!" did you? Now thats a thought! Give a new meaning to the 'blood and sweat' quote!

Great stuff Dr Evilmonkey!!!
You have certainly set the bar high and and it will be challenging (but fun!) to match this fantastic standard.
Hell, a whole army to this standard and I am confident we can beat this years total ammount raised on our own!
