Thanks once again for all your support, I had my eye test today and at last I found an optician that understands my problem and if the glasses that I have been prescribed are as good as they appear to be in the test then I should be back firing on all cylinders once more. That good news, mate! You should be fine. There's solutions to most eye problems... It can be a bit difficult adjusting to the glasses at first, because your eyes are so used to compensating for whatever problem it is you have. So, to begin with you will likely feel a bit dizzy as if the glasses are too strong. But once your eyes stop compensating and relax instead you should be fine.

I've noticed we've had quite a few single-word or smiley posts in this thread since we have heard Tim's good news. Can we at least try and put a bit more than just 'NICE!!' or ;D 'cause otherwise it just gets filled up with what I class as spam.
Cheers, Raccy.

Just read this thread and I say bugger that! Glad you have had some better advice but to ALL painters out there - Your eyes will get worse with close up work. Every single person losses close vision over their lifetimes. Compensate, if you never wore glasses get a pair of reading glasses or an optivisor.
It was this year that I discovered I could no longer see a 28mm figures eyes clearly enough to do anything but randomly jab paint at it! Freaked me out for a couple of days and then I went and got a visor, to be honest I think I paint BETTER now than I did at any other time.

I fully agree with the Doc.Your painting gets better and you go safe on your eyes.Especially us 30-somethings have lots to gain by using visors or glasses and you can get them cheap as well...

Use glasses if you need to, but it's a myth that your eye sight will deteriorate if you strain your eyes! If you're eyes will deteriorate they deteriorate no matter what you do. But, if you do need glasses it's much better to get a pair than to strain your eyes as that will make your eye muscles constantly have to compensate and your eyes will easily become tired and you can get headaches.
