So, the main reason that I am excited to be here on this forum is because I know a lot of you freaks people out there have years and years of experience and I really would like to improve on some things. So rather than the normal WIP stuff, I'm going to send it to you straight and ask the questions that are really begging to be answered. I would really like some detailed feedback, tips and techniques and remember I am still very new so there is no such thing as too basic. So first question... How would you paint this? Hair, specifically dark hair just makes me angry, I've tried several different ideas but it always ends up looking odd. So let's here your ideas! Cheers

I mean really dark hair, like black or dark brown. Could you give me an example of the color choices you would use for black hair using the triad system?

For black base coat black - obviously and then add tiny amounts of either codex grey or shadow grey and paint lines in the direction of the sculpted hair, do this a couple of times and that should do the trick,
Dark brown, base coat Scorched Brown and then shad with a mix of Chaos Black/Scorched Brown rehighlight Scorched Brown and then final highlight with Scorched Brown with a little Bestial Brown mixed in.

For really 'black' hair you may also want to try a 'blue' shade.... I'd base the hair with Chaos black and a touch of regal blue, you wont ntice the blue until you highlight. Addmix tiny amounts of skull white and run the side of the brush over the raised sculpted areas, doing so more times where you feel the light is falling most on the hair. Once it looks too white i then use a glaze medium with the original base colour and give it a very thin glaze all over. I would then darken lower areas of the hair with consecutive glazes... Let's try this technique when we i next visit to game... although well painted hair won't save your impending doom
