Thanks razh. I think I pretty much have the color scheme worked out, though I may throw some other browns in here and there to mix things up.

Well, I got the next five done (you can see full pics at the top of the thread). Played around with some checkered designs and some dags on the Boss, so I hope you guys all like 'em. Now onto the next five... tadme: 47 actually, but who's counting... willpower being depleted.... jnr: Well, just jump in feet first. A year from now you'll look back and never know what happened... Seriously though I know what you mean. I am afraid of rushing them to get them done (which I have no reason too) at the sake of not painting as well. Rashburz: Dark Angels green, then Snot Green covering almost everything, then 50/50 with Goblin Green, then Goblin Green, then 50/50 with Scorpion Green. I am thinking of going back and doing the knuckles and lips with 50/50 Scorpion Green and Elf Flesh. Tim: Thanks. Never had a mini compared to an animals genitalia before, but I will definitely take the compliment (especially from someone who can paint to the degree that you can - actually that goes for a great many people on this site). Jabber: Thanks as always. How is the burna boy thing coming? AW: Thanks mate. Now that makes 10 in 3 weeks.

Ok, so I've got another five done.... whew. Only five more and this regiment will be done. Only 32 more nightgoblins (5 spear, 20 bow, 1 Big Boss, 1 Shaman, and 3 fanatics, and 2 Squig Herders), 1 Troll, 1 Snotling Base, and 2 Squigs to go. And it's only been a month... Maybe I should stop counting... Added some updates at the top of the thread to include full pic of the 15 spear, a full 360 pic of the night goblin spear boss, a pic of the Troll after primering, and a pic of the snotling base being built (I have always wanted to do this since first seeing that Mushroom King)... And here are pics of the five just completed. TimC: Thanks. I posted some better shots of the gobbo boss at the top of the thread, some close ups. Razh: Wasn't aware of the Project WIP forum... Mods, if there is one will you please move me there...

It all looks absolutely amazing! I wish I had the time and more importantly the skill to make such an excellent army...
Two questions-what will that mushroom king be used for, and what is that cool little diorama type base with two goblins on it for? Is it part of that limited edition fanatic?

Ok, not so much of an update as a blast from the past. Just to show that painting takes time to learn (and I am definitely still learning), I have included some pictures of miniatures that I painted a while back. These guys were completed between 7 and 10 years ago, back when my only reference material on how to paint was White Dwarf Magazines, and it seemed like every miniature I saw had a really cheesy green color sanded base and included really bright red and yellow colors. That is a far cry from my style today. This next group of night goblins with bows was completed about 2 years ago, so I hope it shows a bit of improvement in the past 2 years, a lot of which I have spent learning new techniques and a lot more time painting. Anyway, these guys are going to get a makeover and will actually be my second set of 20 night goblins (with a few minor adjustments anyway...) Hope you enjoyed that blast from the past. I should have that first unit of 20 spearmen finished soon (just have to do the reds, wood, and basing), and an update on the troll is coming soon (I'll need to know if the direction I am going with him is working). And, I have also been putting the Night Goblin hero together, and a bit more work has been done on the snotling/mushroom king base. mminiatures: Not sure which one with two goblins you are talking about... if it is the one with the rope in his hand he they are for the 20 spearmen, sort of as a little scenery within the unit if that makes any sense. The mushroom king will represent a snotling base (once I get some more snotlings on it). Razh: Thanks for the move mate. Jnr: Good luck, two months is not a lot of time for that much painting. I think you can do it though, after seeing some of your stuff. Trick is to keep from getting bored... mutantpotato: Thanks. I am anxious for it to be done too... not really looking forward to that second round of 20... Raccsirt: Thanks mate. Probably won't see a gaming table for a long while, and when it does GW will have probably made these troop types obsolete...

Wow, thats some extraordinary progress in just two years. The old goblins looked a bit weak, but these new ones wouldn't look out of place in white dwarf!
Btw, are the savage orks in your other thread meant to be a part of this army?

Post by mousekiller on Apr 23, 2007 20:37:19 GMT
Razh: Thanks mate. I actually keep all these older ones in a drawer, and I used to put such a thick coat of gloss protectant on them that most of them aren't even scratched. Just a bit more on those spearmen...
mminiatures: Well, the group of 20 night goblins was about two years ago, the rest were from 7-10 years ago. But I attribute all of my current status to these forums, and the great help that these communities seem to give. The savage orcs in the other thread are actually for a Savage Orc army that I am painting for a customer, though each time I finish a project and send it off I feel really guilty. Which is why I started this thread, as these miniatures are staying with me and won't be sold.
Thanks guys.

Ok, got that troll arm done, at least enough to get some opinion I hope. I like the putrid color of it. What I need advice on though is: I want the softer skin (belly, under the chin) to be a lighter color - what color should I go with? Also, I want the tougher skin (elbows, shoulder pads) to come out a bit darker, what color should I go with here?
