Well I love the minis for Warmachine but are the rules any good? What is I based on? D6? How many minis is an army? What makes it unique?

Step in Spacemunkie who I know is well into this game, I have not played it properly yet though I do have a small Cygnar force, you can basically play a game with A heavy WEarjack and two smaller jacks and a warcaster per side. I bought the Cygnar starter box which was a complete warband that once assembled and painted were ready to game with.

Right.
I got bored of gaming ages ago, but got talked into trying Warmachine. It's very good.
You can buy a starter box and you have around 300 pts plus the rules to play. Which is a total winner as you can pick a starter box up for 20-30 quid. A game of this size should last around an hour - less once you know what you're doing!
The game revolves around a Warcaster - basically a magician type, Warjacks - big steam-powered robot thingies and troops. You are allowed one warcaster per 750 pts of your army (usually just the one needed...) and each faction has several different 'Casters to choose from.
Each Warcaster gets a number of 'Focus' (this differs depending on the Warcaster!) and these can be used to power the Warjacks, cast spells or to boost your Warcaster's attack and damage rolls. Spells range from the destructive to the defensive and much is made of boosting the units in your force and producing deadly combinations. How you use a Warcaster's Focus is key to doing well (or badly!)
Each Warcaster also has a 'Feat' - a one use special rule that can really turn the tide of a fight if used correctly!
Basically, the game makes you think of your units symbiotically and encourages carnage through massive combos, boosting and sneaky tactics. One of the best things about the game is that you can win from a seemingly hopeless position by taking out your opponents Warcaster - a move that can be achieved in an almost endless variety of ways - there really does seem to be six million ways to die!
Each faction has a nice variety of other troops to choose from - solos, units and artillery (cavalry too soon!), most of which have their own special rules and are quite unique.
One of the real bonuses of the game is that you can completely alter the way your entire army performs and functions simply by choosing a different Warcaster. The game uses 2D6 for all the attack and damage rolls, which can be boosted by adding extre D6s. Each box/blister of minis comes with a unit card, and all of the info needed to play with that unit is on the card. Stick the card in a sleeve and you can mark the wounds off with a dry-wipe marker - so no rifling through codexes and rulebooks once you know your stuff!
PP have just released Hordes, and these warbands can be pitted against Warmachine forces for fun and different games.
I didn't mention Mercenaries, Epic Warcasters or the stonkingly huge Unique Warjacks either....
I would really recommend it. In the few games I've played with Khador (500pts), I've used a force consisting of only Warjacks and a Warcaster, an all infantry force with no Warjacks, a force that was totally advance deploy/ambush based and only had the Warcaster in my deployment area and an army in which everyone had a ranged weapon. All played completely differently. Swap the Warcasters over, and they'll play different again!
Ace.
