I am making up a lamenters army, i have dugg around for fluff and asked people, and it turns out its very limited. I have a soft spot for them, they have been my favourite marine colour scheme ever since i first clapped eyes on them, the fluff so far goes...ahem:
They were supposadley created from blood angels gene seed but modified to remove the effects of the Black Rage and Red Thirst, However, the Lamenters are noted for suffering from a kind of melancholy, the tear on the bloodied heart represents thier lament for the fallen sanguinius as does thier namesake, as they were created froom a superior seed they were very good warriors and very steadfast. The first recorded incident in thier history was during the badab uprising, they turned against loyalist marines siding with the traitors but not for the lure of chaos but over a stubbern dispute of territory They saw the attacks by the Imperium on the Astral Claws as infringing upon the autonomy of the Adeptus Astartes. they repented and were investigated by the inquisition and were granted the emperors forgiveness in return for a 100 year pentient crusade during which time they were watched of by thescythes of the emperor space marines, it was during this crusade that they stumbled into the path of hivefleet kraken, In one particularly notable battle, a number of Lamenters Space Marines fought a heroic last stand on the planet Malvolion which was being rapidly consumed by Tyranid organisms. The actions of the Lamenters allowed for many Imperial civilians to escape the doomed world, but they lost their lives in the process. As a result of the horrific losses they suffered in their many battles with the Tyranids, barely 3 companies of the Lamenters still remain.
i will try and base my marines on deck and tech plate bases, going for the hulk look, they will bear battle damage and be very weathered. i am thinking of going for only foot units and no vehicles or dreadnoughts to fit this theme. i am starting of with my cmnd squad which is on its way in the mail. i will post pics as i have them.
if there is anything you think will be of benifet then please post it and any other comments or crits are welcome ;D ;D ;D also as i dont have the rules can someone tell me if the standard foce organisation chart of, 1 hq and 2 troops compulsory is the standard? i am not bothered about points cost as it may be a long time before they see a gaming table but i want it to be legal. thanks
