Can anyone think of any gaming reason to put wings on a grey knight? I'm doing the conversion whether I can find a reason or not, but it's always nice to explain it. I was thinking maybe to signify the abilty to deep strike (I think they can be upgraded to do that.. I'll have to double check). Any other ideas would be great. Thanks in advance.

Mmm can't think of anything at the moment but I will do some digging through the fluff and see what I can come up with.

i think that they should be metal wings as if they where flesh the other grey knights would see them as tainted and destroy them they are a fanatical lot after all :-)

They will look like real wings, but they will be mechanical/cyborg type thing. Something similar to "The Renegade" a 40k single piece that won at GD (Italian I think...) a couple years back.

Well you could always say it is to further themselves into the likeness of the Primarks (don’t know how to spell?) and to the Angels that adorn there Iconology.

Sounds like it could work... The only gripe I see is that the Grey Knights come from the Gene seed of the Emperor himself, not a Primarch (and I think Sanguinus was the only one with wings...). I'll keep that in mind.
Update on the plan, I'm going to do a unit with the deep strike rule, so instead of teleporting I'm going to have them with wings. Or the wings could just be ornamental representations of the ability to deep strike. The Justicar with have Brettonian Pegasus wings, and the rest of the unit will have smaller wings (haven't decided which ones yet...)

Hmm doesn’t the Dark Angel Primarch has wings too? Anyway I don't ever remember seeing anywhere it saying that the other Primarches do not have wings. But ya I hade forgotten the whole From the Emperors Gene seed thing, though I guess he could have wings to that would explain all of the Angels in the architecture and Iconology, if the people did see the Emperor as an Angelic looking figure, thus wings... hmm, I am going to go pull out some codexs now and see if it ever talks about Gothic Architecture and why it uses such Iconology.

Or they could be assault marines? There are so many variations of them, like chaos raptors are pre-heresy assault marines.

Wow this is old. And I actually still havent finished those guys lol!
Just thought I'd point out that Grey Knights are incorruptable. Not one has been tainted by Chaos.

well in my opinion if an inquisitor can be corrupted by all the chaos and artifacts he comes across than so can a grey knight, just because it is said they are uncorruptable does not mean that they are, could be a cover up by the inquisition or any other reason, in fact it has never been said that a grey knight has had wings, but you wish to model one with wings, so does it really matter if a piece of fluff syas one thing but you wish to do another? ;D ;D
