That is really nice work on this, the weathering is first class and the extra details make it very realistic indeed.

Hi all, Thanks for the welcome, I have several close up shots of this beast. The choice of colours was sort of lead by my other IG vehicles and an attempt at continuity, it was a nice kit to put together and I really enjoyed the time spent painting it. Originally I wasn't too sure about the Baneblade kit as not only was it a lot of money for a box of plastic, I didn't like the arched vision slits, search light or the size of the turret ,in relation to the rest of the tank. I found, quite buy chance a seller on ebay knocking out resin turret conversion kits that make the turret approx 1/3 bigger, which neatly coincided with finding and independent stockist selling the Baneblade for a 1/3 less than GW. So fate made me buy it, at least that's what I told my wife!

I found it on ebay . The kit I bought comprised; the turret top in two pieces; a base part that you glue onto the original turret base (so that it will still swivel). This piece also has two extra side armour plates built in, onto which you attach the original plastic side pieces, you can then attach the stowage/ammo locker/bin/thing with a little careful trimming; the other parts are all to do with the mount for the main weapon, a new front plate for the gun mantlet, a piece that goes between the plastic gun barrel and the mantlet and two extenders for the swiveling part of the cannon mount. IMO the cannon mount is the only part that looks a little rough once assembled, which is why I made at first a mantlet cover and finally a cam net from some gauze fabric from a bandage.

very very nice... the only bug I can find now is the tail-pipes... they should be hollowed out or replaced with some scratchbuildt part, imho

Didn't even think of that. Nice idea. The staggered heights were another touch that I wasn't that keen on so I might have a go at changing them. What do you think would look better; all pointing straight up ( with the little lids on the end, like on those hugh earth movers you see in quarries) or keep them with a bend in the end.

Awesome, I can't say anymore than that. Did you airbrush the bodywork as it is a huge area for painting with a brush of anysize.

I sprayed the base coat with small cans of 'Tamiya color' for plastics paint. Primed with GW 'Chaos Black', then a couple of coats of Tamiya TS-46 'light sand'. The green was done with Tamiya TS-61 'NATO green'. The propellant in these cans is rather unpleasant, I did these held at arms length out of my bathroom window so the patterns a bit rough.
