I am busy trying to paint a black and white Alice but It was getting annoying and I want something to do quickly for a change. Decided to do Galadriel, just messing on, try a couple of new techniques, quite speedy, nothing serious. Ended up painting this in two days and it's probably one of my best! lol So I'm probably going to take it to Games Day and enter it, that is aslong as the bigger base won't get disqualified (I have no idea) and will also have it at Paris. So figured I'd show It off, as its the first in months I'v been reasonably happy with.

Brilliant! It looks exactly how this mini should. The blue shading on the robes gives it an ethereal look that the pure white schemes don't. The face is also great.

Cheers! Etheral was exactly the mood I was going for. Although I wasn't really aining for a particular colour scheme (I.e. sticking to the films or books) but it sounds like I have! A CMoN link if you are interested: www.coolminiornot.com/168226

It is a beautiful piece matty, it seems that every one is overtaking me at painting good Lotr minis lol. I tried to paint this one myself and had a very good idea of how i wanted her to look and it came out nothing like it. It ended up in the bin. A simple sculpt but very hard to pull off.

@tim: lol
I just dived in with no real plan, I knew I wanted to use blue primarily for the shading (inspired by Alex Holmen, in turn from Jerimie Bonament) So I took VMC Medium Blue (probably about 50/50 Ultramarine blue and midnight blue) then just brushed it in in thin lines. I then took my base colour and glazed it over, creating greens and yellows, and loads of nuances which was completely unplanned, but excellent!

Hey Tim cheers for the comment on CMoN, here is how I painted the skin: I read this over at Wyrd, a fella had used it there as a test so I figured I would have a go aswell. Apparently it is the 'French way' with the likes of Jeremie, Cyril, Julien doing this way. Basecoat Tanned Flesh Glaze the shadows with a red. I used VMC Transparent red, but you could probably get the same colour mixing scab red and blood red 50/50. Lots and lots of superthin layers here to build up the colour. Highlight up to Elf Flesh Finally highlight up to white Quite simple, but I'v always hated tanned flesh so never tried it out before now, glad I did though You seem to get a healthy glow to the skin. Hope that helps.

I like the robes also, but the hair is wonderful as well--you really captured the "sheen".
