This is my new space marine army, it is Egyptian themed. I've been working on this since February, I finished them the other day. I have just a turn counter left to do, that is all that remains. The list is as such: Chaplain + wound marker Dreadnought Veteran squad Tactical squad *3 Scout squad *2 Assault squad Landspeeder Tornado Devastator squad These are the army pictures, unfortunately they are not the best of the pictures. Really nice looking army you have there, I can see why you haven't posted in a while, been busy.
The only thing that bothers me is as a loyalist force, the chapter symbols is a little too close to the Eye of Chaos for my liking, my have to inform the Inquisition about it.
Praise be to the Emperor!!!

Well, thank you very much for the comments. I am rather happy with their look, for the most part, but have discovered a few things and now I want to work on progressing my skills - or polishing the ones I have. No more full army painting for a while, I think. I do have a turn counter left to finish off, then they're all done. This will be a step-by-step guide to how I paint them, I have done the building part already. I admit, my favourite miniature of the lot is the Chaplain. My most extensive green stuff work yet, and conversion on the whole. Look: Again, thanks for the comments. KU

Well done Kuffy! Looks like -t owe's you some food. Make sure you take plenty of pics at the meet.
Overall its a very impressive army! I agree that the chaplin is your best paint job of the whole army, but I also really like the helmets of the veterans. I have been following your progress over the last few months and I can only say congratulations.

Thanks, I like the chaplain too; I'm happy with just how he looks. KU

I did originally have a tutorial with pictures but I forgot to take them after the first stage, so you'll have to do with some text instead. Nothing is exactly perfect and I didn't take that much notice as I painted. I admit I got a little bored of it, so it's simple and quick of sorts. I used GW, VGC and VMC paints. The whole model was primed white to begin with. Armour Bestial Brown wash over the entire model [ii] Graveyeard Earth (GW) + Graveyard Earth (VGC) 2:1 [iii] Add two drops of Desert Yellow (VGC) to the mix [iv] Pure Desert Yellow (GW) - requires a number of layers to get a good colouring [v] Add one drop of Bleached Bone (VGC) to the mix [vi] Add an extra drop of Bleached Bone (VGC) to the mix [vii] Bestial Brown (VGC) to reshade [viii] Using the mix in [vi] and add a drop of Skull White to highlight.
Shoulder Pad banding, backpack exhausts and Chest Icons
All done using GW metallics
Tin Bitz base [ii] Add one drop of Brazen Brass [iii] Add another drop of Brazen Brass [iv] Add one Dwarf Bronze to highlight
For the gold - chest icon
Using the final layer for the shoulder pad banding
Add shining Gold - a number of layers is required, add more shining gold to taste [ii] Add burnished Gold [iii] Add Mithril Silver for highlight
Chapter Icons, Squad Markings and Bolter case
Dark Flesh (GW) + Scorched Brown (GW) [ii] Dark Flesh (GW) [iii] Kommando Khaki (GW) for the highlight
Belt
Snakebite Leather (GW) [ii] Add Kommando Khaki (GW) to highlight
Tabard and Banner
Snakebite Leather (GW) + Bestial Brown (VGC) [ii] Add Kommando Khaki (GW) - repeat layers, add more per layer [iii] Add Bleached Bone (VGC) [iv] Add Ivory (VMC) [v] Add Skull White (VGC) to highlight
Eye Lenses and Purity Seals
Scaly Green (GW) [ii] Add Hawk Turquoise (VGC) [iii] Add Skull White (VGC) for highlight
Silver Metallics
Chaos Black (GW) + Oily Steel (VMC) [ii] Wash with Smoke (VMC) [iii] Using mix in add Codex Grey (GW) [iv] Add Natural Steel (VMC) [v] Add Mithril Silver (GW) to highlight [vi] Final extremely watered wash of Smoke (VMC)
Flesh
Brown Rose (VMC) [ii] Bestial Brown (VGC) wash [iii] Add Dwarf Flesh (GW) - additional layers, add more Dwarf Flesh as taste [iv] Add Elf Flesh (GW) [v] Add Bleached Bone (VGC) to highlight
Base
Scorched Brown (GW) [ii] Add Snakebite Leather (GW) [iii] Add Desert Yellow (GW) [iv] Add Bleached Bone (VGC) [v] Bleached Bone (GW) [vi] Skull White (VGC)
Right, that is pretty much how I painted the marines in my army. You'll excuse me for the lack of pictures and accuracy. =)

this is awesome nice to see somone who has sense and if having an off white army prime with white as i know someone who is doing a similar thing and prime with black so has to build up in layers of colours and the force hes painting is something like 5000 points. my fave is deffinatly the dreadnought with the carnifex head? on the base adds a bit of novelty value which i like and i like the head converted onto the front id tip my hat to you if i was wearing 1
to tell you the truth i dont own a fully painted army i just get bored and paint something else

OK, I got a better full army picture, but you can't see the details in it I'm afraid. This is taken on the VGA setting, I should have done it on 2-5m I know but I forgot. Anyway, this was taken this weekend at WHW in Lenton during the LO Meet 2007. I got a bunch of comments on it, and not just from those on LO. I had one of the GW staff he was only just looking at it on B&C a few days before, he gave me the comment I have been hearing "I thought the 'blue' needed a bit more" but he added "but now that I see them, it works great." I was happy with them, I'm just sad their owner has very little ability with them. (haha). I lost all games with them, but all I can do is practice and improve! This is the army complete for a while, I will not paint another Scion for a good while and I will hopefully learn how the army works then figure out improvements and give myself options etc. I hope you've enjoyed reading it.
