Librarium-online are running a competion entitled "Joe Nobody" at the moment. An unconverted, special weaponless troop choice from the army of your choice. So I dug this guy from the bottom of a bits box. I would say that he is one of my oldest models. Himself and his nine friends have been MIA for about a decade I'd say. I entered him today so I figure its ok to post him up here too. Looking at the photo's it seems like i've cropped the pictures a little too much, zooming the photo in and making the model look more messy than it looks in real life to the naked eye. I might retake them and try and calm down on the cropping a bit. C&C appreictated.

Looking really cool matey I do think though that some more highlighting wouldn't hurt. i.e. on the skin etc. but its still a cool mini EDIT: i forgot, good luck in the Comp

I tried to keep a very limited pallet and paint him like the americans you see running around Iraq. I am quite pleased at how the kaki colour turned out.

A very cool mini and a great paintjob, i think a good coat of matt varnish would really help give a 'feel' to the textures and sense of realism.. personally i would up the highlights on those collossal shoulders!
Good luck in the comp CC

Very good looking mini, CC. Nice work on the skintones and the khaki look great. I agree with Dennis a bit of matte varnish would help to knock down the glare a bit which looks more prominent on the rear photo. I might humbly suggest some additional highlighting on the very top part of the headband and ammo belt. The only other thing I would offer would be to change the color of the strap on the left leg--it seems to blend a bit with the pants. Best of luck in the comp!

Thanks guys! I'll go away and make the additions you've suggested. I can't re-enter it unfortunaly but it will be interesting to see if your suggestion's improve him.
