He is finally done, I like the mini though he was not as easy to paint as I thought he would be. Next on the list of tasls are more dwarves and Gandalf from Khazad Dum set.

As I said the the WIPs, the face is fantastic and the metals are awesome just as usual ;D But I have to say I do not like the hair. I know it's how it was in the film, and the hair is indeed great painted, but it is just a matter of taste Other than that, an amazing mini ;D

Thanks, I decided against freehand after several attempts on the trim of the under shirt I didn't want to totally screw the mini up. As for the hair I like to differ from GW a bit so I was determined not to do it brown and went instead for the lighter colour which I think works well. But like you say Mikkel it is a matter of taste and it is a well known fact that I have none.

Well i can't remember who he is meant to be, so the official colour scheme means nothing to me. Not sure why, but i feel there is something 'wrong' about the metallics, something just doesn't look right to me. They are well painted but perhaps the shadows are to big (If you understand what i mean!), might have looked better (to me) if you had painted them a touch brighter, especially on the parts hanging down from his waist. Face is fantastic, especialy for this scale. And I also agree about freehand on the cloak, just a small bit off yellow to break up the large black area. Great job though.

I think I am going to have to agree to disagree on the metals on this one, I love the way they came out as with all my Gondor models I have tried to capture the look of the film and I think I have come fairly close, I wanted accentuated shadows to make the metal look brighter at the highest points and I think I got that. Freehand on the cloak for me wouldn't have worked I have made reference to both the movies and also the books and there is no mention of designs on the cloaks that I can find the only design was on the trim of the undershirt and that I tried and failed at miserably .

Well im not a big fan of the films and such, so i don't really compare the paintjob to them, but its just personal taste. I would prefer brighter metallics, to me these have an oily effect.

That is a really nicely done paintjob! There is just one thing I would have changed, it is the bow or the gloves. Because now the bow and the glove seems to be almost the same colour... but hey thats just minor details, it is a wonderful paintjob and the base rocks

wonderful as usual I love the metals, they are very true to the movies. I think I'll buy him and paint him using your article

So nicely done...the face and (of course) the metallics are my favorite parts. My only critique would be for some additional highlighting on the bow.
