I was in GW yesterday and they mentioned there was a painting comp the next day, so eager to compete (this was my first ever comp!) i went home and 'speed painted' this fella. Took about 5hrs whereas i usually take about 15 for one figure, so im pretty chuffed! It took 2nd place by 1 vote! Wow, 5 hours!  I like the paint job. The reds are my favourite. I like the metals on the torso, but the rest could use some more shading. The cape is my least favourite part. The green cloak could use some more highlighs. But it's a really great job for only 5 hours. And congrats for winning the 2nd place! |

With the cloak i was usnsure what colour to do it. It has leaves on the outside, so green, but the Vostroyans were a city fight army, so grey.
So why not do both! Grey and green!
The metallics on the gun lack the care of the torso metallics, there is browns and purples washed in, but by that time i was far to tired!
There was 9 over 16's entry's, about 15 uder 16's and 5 staff entrys. The top of the each catagory won prizes (i was 2nd in the over 16's) And i managed 2nd place overall (which i think is the better achievement!)

Can't criticise anything done in 5 hours, i spend that long thinking about it!! Seriously impressive for the time limit and a great sculpt to do, i have this guy and have been toying with stretching a plastic net from a mandarin orange over his back with some forest litter but that'll take me 5 hours to work out!

If I did not know you only spent five hours on him, then I would have a few comments.
Knowing that you only spent five hours on him... WOW. That is an amazing bit of quality work for a speed paint. You should definitely be proud of it.
