My wife does alot of arts and crafts and is a member of alot of sites that are associated with that side of things, one the things she is currently involved in is a round robin where people volunteer to work on a project each person taking on a different part, you get the idea. I have been thinking that this would be a good thing to have a go at here, we get a list of participants and then pick a mini allocate tasks and then paint it up. Once completed the model could be e-bayed and the proceeds given to a charity. I feel this would help bring the community together a bit more and also help a little to promote the site. So my question is, a) do you all think this would work? and b) who wants to take part if we do it.

or instead of giving it to chariety, or maybe a small portion of it, put the money towards the development of the site. The ad free doesnt come cheap and we cant expect you to pay all the time. I think fundraisers like this for WoM would be good for the community and the site. Then if theres any surplus then give it to charity ;D its a good idea

I would be intersted (I do live in New Zealand though - items sent to me take about 4 days, items sent from me take about 2 week!)

I agree with Sully on this.

This is a good idea, its just the geographical side of things and the damage in transit that may make it inplausible. But doing something mini related that helps for the upkeep of the site does sound a great idea.

There is a geographical challenge that is true, but I think with a little fore thought on the way the item is packed and sent from place to place I think it is not impossible, I will let this thread run for a week or so to see how many people want to come on board and then once we have a reasonable list then we can discuss what sort of mini to go for.

I think the idea is good, I would participate, but I don't think I'm honestly able to do that, as I have a very limited amount of free time for painting and that's already booked for quite long in advance...

I don't think I will be able to do it either, for the simple reason that my parents won't let me.

I'm in, and i can't see the post as a problem if it starts in a sturdy box and continues that way...
I agree the funds for now should go into the site, maybe a dedicated server

The funds could go to the site, the trouble with getting a dedicated server is that I can't transfer Wom from pro-boards so everything would have to be started again from scratch, but I have toyed with the idea of having a webhost directly linked to the forums on the main page.

I probably could be coaxed into something like this...as long as the person sent me something about there homeland in addition. I love getting a postcards from places I haven't been (even if it is Iowa, Jimmygee)!
