This is my dwarf army, again like my other threads I've just copy and pasted from other fourms - I'm lazy ok? Right... Oh and Fantasy stuff is allowed right? I saw a fantasy section and assumed, if not I'll remove the thread [or a mod will]
This is also in the dwarf forum but I thought a plain painting thread would benefit more, so here is my plan;
Build a dwarf army. No defined point size just what I like, well so far I have a list planned out to about 3500pts and this is the current look;
Dwarf Lord
Runelord + Anvil Of Doom
Runesmith
Thane + Battle Standard
20 Warriors
20 Warriors
20 Warriors
20 Longbeards
16 Thunderers
16 Quarrellers
20 Ironbreakers
Cannon
Two Bolt Throwers
Grudge Thrower
20 Miners
Organ Gun
Flame Cannon
Gyrocopter
And these are my current test schemes;

Thoughts, comments etc.

Ten based, painted and completed.
Right, a few things about them.
You may or may not notice that four of them have slightly different colours, mainly on the blue, this is because I forgot my reciepe for the blue. But placed together it is hard to see. One has his weapon placed oddly and thus his shield does not truly look correctly placed.
I am currently using PS7 and I am getting use to it, it is slightly different to the previous version, and so pictures may suffer for a while - as in you may have difficulties in seeing highlights, something I noticed with the metallics. I will work on this, same with the slight red tone in the background, I am unsure as to what this is or why it is there but I will look into it.
Ok, so looking at these - I am pleased (much better in person). Based on the batch of six I did I can do them in about six hours complete, so a full unit of warriors at this standard will take about thirty two hours - give or take a few.
So all crit and comments welcomed.

And the unit is complete;

Let me know what you think. I like them, and feel free to laugh at the banner but it is my first try at large sized freehand. Practice is needed.

[UPDATED - 21.02.06]
img158.imageshack.us/img158/4715/thunderers8pq.jpg
Thunderers completed. The scheme is the same throughout the army with a few changes here and there of course, the Thunderers are no different. I used my usual way of painting the armour (though now is only one metallic colour to three non metallics and an ink), beards and the rest. Guns were the same as the metal but the stocks I decided would look good if given a wooden look.
Now bases, I decided to make the back rank different. Each model is stood upon two layers of rock not one, give it a few 'inches' on their brothers underneath. The base rim may look basic and boring but works and gives me room to add runes or something if I want.
Shields will be done in time, basically when I get a moment. If I really, really need too.. then I can bluetac some on.

My current works is my favourite dwarven sculpt, he just oozes the feel of the dwarves. I am unsure if I captured this or not but I liked him. I decided to forgo the usual white beard and made him look younger with a brown one. It was suppose to be a redish brown but I went too red and had to add more brown, so it is brown.
The armour is worked up from a single use of a metalic colour, then mixing in codex grey and fortress greys and skull white. It seemed to be going rather grey, sort of like NMM at one point so I added a little bit of chainmail and finally dulled it with a glaze of black ink. The gold was mixing from tin bitz, brazen brass, shining and burnished gold, golden yellow and sunburst yellow. Adds a nice shine to the metal.
Will get one of my bases soon, and I will try for better pictures.

( Not the best of pictures due to it having to be at 200% zoom in PS. )

Ok, update again. I decided to post what I add to the orginal thread, easier to read Anyway, two pictures.

Thane on completed base. I am rather happy with the dwarf, it has been pointed out the beard does not make him stand out but I wanted to keep away from the stereotypical look of "hero = white beard".
And my newest project..
img132.imageshack.us/img132/8219/cannona3vy.jpg
This took this afternoon alone, personally the model is not my favourite new dwarf stuff and as a result I think it looks rushed. Though the base adds lots of character to the piece. Crew will follow in the next few weeks.

Completed cannon and crew
img147.imageshack.us/img147/5279/ca...complete0nk.jpg
The crew are only missing an engineer who needs to be created, will appear in the coming few weeks/months. Overall I love the crew but am not all that sure on the cannon itself, dislike the carraige.
I have to thank OldFogey off The Warhammer Forum (TWF) for the reciepe for the blonde beard, I think with a bit more trying I can get it looking good.

img20.imageshack.us/img20/4820/warr...complete8zw.jpg
Second warrior unit complete. Armed with great weapons and shields the unit is the last core for my list planned. A few things of note - the banner is once again freehand; not all that good granted but I need the practice. The standard bearer and champion are conversions, more or less my first and best yet (if a little simplistic). The banner pole was extended and made to be single handed the champion has his axe faced down and the head is from the previous plastic warrior set.
One thing I have to add is the shields. There are in total ten in the unit, lent up against the dwarves. The reason is that I hate the look of a shield glued onto the dwarf's back without any way of it being held there, if I was good or brave enough I woulf have sculpted a band to act as a 'holster' for the shield. Alas I cannot yet, so on the base they go.
Any comments, questions or advice is welcome. And yes, long time no post. Work.

img481.imageshack.us/img481/154/runesmitha6wl.jpg
Runesmith completed. He took me most the weekend but was in fact completed in a rather top speed on Saturday (mainly so, worked about six to eight hours on him in total). The beard is whiter than most to show his age and wisdom; he also has mostly metallics upon him. Not overly thrilled with the silver, it looks very NMM but without the lighting being correct. This was not my intention and is just the effect of adding grey and lighter grey to the silver base, need to practice more with this too. Last thing is also the staff and runes on his helmet have a slight blue surround, this was done by adding a little bit of Enchanted Blue to the mix. Unfortunately the effect was not reall successful - may try blue ink next time.
I must applogize for the bad pictures as I am playing about with my camera, seeing how the white balancing alters them so it may appear a little dark. Also as I only have a two times optical zoom on the camera the pictures may not show details all that well - I need to practice more with these things.
All comments, critisim, questions and suggestions for improvments etc welcomed.

Second war machine complete. If I have not mentioned this, the model istelf is nasty, I honestly do not like the scuplt of it and this will probably be the first and last one that looks like this in my army. This being said, it has slightly grown on me. Slightly. For those who saw a previous post of mine about the colours, I opted to keep the theme. It was pointed out to me that this is how I started and their should be a cohierency to my army overall.

Last infantry unit completed. Ironbreakers.
Those with sharp eyes may notice that the command are different to the main look of the unit, as in look darker. This is because I did it a different way, the others I did using a guide of painting metallics on Bugman Brewery - by Kuh' Tathor I believe. A much prefered way, if needing a little refining in my usage.
So, left to do is an Organ Gun; Battle Standard Bearer and two Engineers for my special war machines.

Organ Gun is completed. Final full piece, all that now remains is the Battle Standard Bearer and two converted engineers. The organ gun made me realise that I do dislike the plastic war machine kit, you will notice that front is not straight. The rear is just as bad, in fact the who thing is off centre and I dislike it. But the crew are great, well worth the kit!

My two engineers. Converted from parts off the three dwarf plastics; warriors, thunderers and war machines. And a little bit of greenstuff but you may notice that I am not good with that. Still I am rather proud of these two, basic conversions but they look good.
img419.imageshack.us/img419/5018/bsb7cn.jpg
The Battle Standard Bearer. Not much to say here, still have a few things though First things are the pipe in his mouth - blends into his beard too much and that may well blend with the armour a bit but taking the beard lighter and making the pipe gold or wooden did not seem right. The army colours appear in two small places only; a bit of cloth at his back and the book on the banner itself. I decided he needed something still to tie him into my own army.
Now, finally... it is completed. Take a look!

I'll thank you all for the comments you have added to this thread, the ideas, mutterings and general good luck messages. This army has taken me from Januray the first in the planning designs to about four this afternoon, so I am pretty happy with it. Now, I am sick and tired with beards
