Thanks Tim. Glad you like it.
One of the GW staff told me that there is some sort of demon lord coming out for lotr next year, sounds mighty impressive so I may end up with a few more lotr figures in my collection.

Sounds interestingI can't think what that might be unless they are going to do Melkor who the elves called Morgoth. I'll have to keep my eyes open for that one.

Great work, plenty of effects to marvel at... just a Q, is the armour bronze or copper, it reminds me of the oxidised bronze statues around town?

Awesome mate. I like what you have done with the armour, it's different, but really cool. I like the base too, the water looks great.

Excellent mini. Both the armour and the sword are cool, I like both effects.

Lots to love about this big boy. I like your rust effects very much. The water is excellent. Great job on the oxidized bronze, although it blends a bit with the skin tone of the troll, particularly on his back and feet.

I decided to experiment with the old limited colours idea so evrything there has the base colour I used for the armour and skin added into it and the armour and skin are the same colour - including the highlights (I made the highlights on the armour a lot tighter to exagerate the contrast more).

I need to ask a question, what materials an how did you do the base I as think that it is one of the most realistic that I have seen for a very long time. I can tell it is some combination of flock I (I think) but the manufacturer and a quick how did you do it would be good.

I started the base by cutting a hole where the puddle is. I glued a piece of plastic underneath, this gives it a bit of depth. The small undulations are made with air drying modeling clay.
I wanted the grass to look close cropped - almost licheny in character. The only thing I had that was like that was GW snow. After PVAing that on I painted it a dark brown/green colour. The brown areas where drybrushed brown, then light brown and finally white. The green was dark green, lighter green and finally white. The water is just water effects that I put in a couple of layers and tinted green brown (after painting the base dark green). The tussuck looking thing is an old paint brush.
Hope that helps.

Just fantastic. Has a lot more character to it than the GW paint job I think.

Absolutely awesome! the base is , as Tim said, very realistic. I have to ask you how you achieved the bronze effect on the armour, it's so good!
