Looks good, I do like the base. I almost never use inks at all, I try to achieve the same results by using thinned paints. The only time I use inks really is on metals as the shading wash.

anyways, update, am not overly happy with these pics (or the mini tbh) the pics dont quite bring out the highlights like they are IRL and theirs alorts of mistakes on the mini, mainly spots of white undercoat that iv missed. So... this mini is me stepping out of my comfort zone, everything about it has been done in a diff way, its all new. theirs quite a long list of things i aint too happy about, but iv have learnt a few new things and the mini has certainly been a interesting stepping stone, althought am not quite sure ill go back and finish it properly, iv finally dug out some old conversions that iv been meaning to finish. some critique would be great, especially about the metallics, as they were the most important lessons i wanted to learn

I think it looks good. I like the base w the water fountain... maybe the metallics could have done with some more washes/glazes, I would have put a bit more brown washes on the metal and maybe a a more redish one on the gold.

Yep looks good to me too, the metals could do with more contrast as Zappy suggests. I also think from the point of realism that the water in the pool should have ripples in it fanning out from where the stream of water out of the fountain is hitting the surface.

cheers for the responses guys.
i know wot ur saying with regards to the metallics, next time ill use a range of metallics and then use glazes to blend the colours and add a tint (prob a brown like zap said), instead of using just inks. i was originally goin to add ripples to the water but the resin hasnt set properly and the top is like rubber so am not sure how much damage i could do, so ill prob store that idea away for next time. how do u guys normally go about painting rocks? been adding pigments and greens to the GW standard method, would mind trying an alternative...

Not a mini I am keen on but the finished result is still very good.
