I'd be interested in feedback on this WiP. I'll be adding some tiger stripes to the main body (once I'm happy with the colour) & then sticking him on a snow base. Still at a loss what to put on the banner though.

Ok no responses so far from here, but I am getting a suggestion of a jungle base over on Wyrd - what do you guys think. Here is the latest WiP

I think a jungle base could work well. I did not reply to your first post because it was a bit early and I really didn't think the tiger stripes would work. However seeing it now I am forced to rethink my opinion it does actually work quite well. Is the upper body done as I don't think that it matches the quality of the rest of the mini if it is. I think the skin needs to be a bit darker to make it fit with the lower body. Just my opinion but if it were my model that is what I would be thinking to myself. Another suggestion for the base but it is sort of along the lines of the jungle theme is to make a swampy type base and have the mini a little in the watery parts of the swamp.

Mmmm I think the blend between the upper & lower bodies could be better I'll work on that. As to whether it would work I've done it before for a TT comp - ok I got 4th out of 4 for the category but I feel it was the base & size of figure that let me down

I like it!
Like Tim I was a bit sceptial when you mentioned tiger stripes, but you've proven me wrong. They really do work well. I think jungle base might be the way to go alright, maybe its the stripes but it seems right.
Have you removed the flag? Are you going with something different?

I like the idea. It's original and well done indeed. Looking forward to see the progress. A base idea could be savannah/desert inspired base like this one (found the pic on wikipedia btw).

Thanks for the support guys. No the flag is still there - but I've taken it off so that I can paint it separtely - that way if I make a mistake then I haven't got to remove it from the model. I did hit a snag & I've had to almost completely redo the lower portion of the body. Basically I'm colour blind & I picked up a pot of Bright Green instead of yellow. Didn't realise until my wife told me. By then I had done at least 2 levels of highlighting & 3 washes with the green in the mix. To say I was annoyed was an understatement. Still I've nearly got the 'orange' back to where it's supposed to be then I can add the stripes again. I'm just stuck as to what to do with the banner - I think I've got the base sorted

You know there is quite a lot of GD winners that actually is colourblind, don't you ? So I'm in with a chance then. You don't suppose it's because a colourblind person has to really learn inside out what different colours do where as a 'normally' sighted person juadges what they've done on what they can see? I'll try to get some wips back up tomorrow with hopefully the dragon ogre back to at least where it was before.

OK here is the latest photo's. I some ways I feel the mistake has helped as the stripes are better & the colouration of the skin more natural.

Looking really good mate! What way are you going to go with the claws and spikes on the back? A bone colour or something completely different?

Btw, your entry is looking good George Delaphina (sp?) is a mulitple deamon winner from France who works at warhammer world. I believe he said in a WD interveiw that he is colour blind. He is the one who had the über nice IMP. Armoured infantry and Ork Speedfreak army in WD.

Did some searching on the net and also found a space wolf and ravenwing army. I have not seen his IG army yet though.

OK with regards to the claws & spikes, the spikes are a bone whitish sort of colour but the claws are dark brown. I've replaced the battle banner with a large stone warhammer - basically the pole was too think for a standard. But I've added a snotling to the base with a standard.
The base has a flint rock for the DO to stand on, & I'm going to go with vines over it, long grasses & broad leafed plants around it. The snotling has a tribal mask & sheild made from green stuff.
I'll try to get a wip up tomorrow.

OK I think I'm nearly there. Need to add some long grasses & braod leafed plants to the base (a few minor details on the snotling) then add the DO. Comment/feedback welcome

I just have to ask, what is your goal with GD? Try to win a deamon or just enter for the fun of it? Because if you are aming for a deamon I think you have a lot of stuff on that miniature that needs more attention. First of, you cant have finger prints on any converted part of the miniature. (I can see some on the top of the banner), second, the pole for the big sledge is to thick compared to the strapping on it. I don't want to be like the bad guy here, but I know sometimes when I'm working on something I can work so much with a minuature that I just cant see the flaws. I am working on my GD project myself these days, and I have a few guys that I regularly post photos of the miniature to so they can give me feedback. And there has been some obvious flaws they have pointed out for me. So I think it is important to have a second pair of eyes to look over your miniature.
But I hope to see your miniature at GD, and maybe even meet you:P

Winning a Demon? No that's not the idea. This is a bit of fun to try & get me to improve. Thanks for the tips - this is actually my first real attempt with the green stuff.
The thickness of the sled handle - yep you're right, and yes I hadn't spotted it!!!

Well the color scheme and the concept are very old school so obviously i like it ;D I think the idea of the hammer is better than the banner and fits nicely, the goblin reminds me the old pygmies from gw ( more old school) and it's a cool idea, nonethless i agree that you should remove the fingerprints.
