Would appreciate some feedback on my entry to the MM contest (as shown below). The other entries where stunning so i'm not surprised i didnt get any votes, but would appreciate tips on where to improve.

Right ho mate feedback time,
First and foremost re-size your images down to a reasonable size, I usually go for around 450 pixels wide. With large pictures like this even the best minis show their flaws. Overall this is not a bad mini at all, in fact I was pleasantly surprised the first time I saw it, this is a small mini. Now how to improve, I think basically you are on the right track. I think in all areas your highlights are still a little too abrupt by that I mean not enough intermediate stages. Layering will always show the rougher side of highlighting but the more stages you use from going from base colour to final highlight the smoother it will look, also keeping your paints thin will help this too. It takes practice and is not easy but it is worth the time taken to get the hang of it. The nmm looks pretty good I would say that it could do with some white highspots on the extreme points of the metal areas. Look on the tutorials on Cmon for good nmm guides. Again difficult to master but when you have the hang of it it can look awesome. The weakest part of the mini for me is the hair you can still see either the undercoat or maybe it is the base colour you started with but that is spoiling it. Blond hair is not hard to do and you have got a good look to it but it is just these really dark parts that are letting it down. If we ever get the chance I will sit with you and give you some instruction on some simple ways to make your minis look good.

Just to add that the base is also a big part of any mini, so it should be treated as well as the mini itself. This is something I've had to learn myself as well.
I agree with all that Tim has said, and if you follow his tips and advice you'll soon be painting like him. Top man!!
Yours was a great entry, and it certainly deserved some votes, it's a shame that non one voted.
Here's to the next one.

Thanks for the feedback guys, i was feeling the hair was letting me down myself.
When my hell dorado mini's arrive i'm really going to start experimenting with alot more colour layers between highlights.
Their at the post office at the moment so all being well (and office being open in the strike) i should get them tomorrow, sat latest.
Hopefully one day i can sit down with you Tim and improve my painting.
