Hi guys. Could you tell me what methods you use for Brown (any shade) and Blond hair? Also, do you know how to paint a reddish brown haircolour?
Painting some Wardancers and need some advise for their hair. Especially for the redbrown.

I have only painted brown hair myself. I use a dark brown for basecoat. I suggest using scorched brown with some catachan green. And then add more bleached bone or bestial brown to the mix to highlight. Use as much bleached bone as you feel comfortable with until you got a colour you are happt with.

I have never painted blonde har before. I think a midtone to light brown colour would work as a basecoat, maybe bestial brown mixed with some bleached bone maybe. Add more bleached bone maybe mixed with some yellowish colours. As I said I have never painted blonde hair, so this is only what makes sence to me, dunno if it will work out

For red-brown hair I would use scorched brown mixed with a little bit dark red. Scorched brown already has much red pigments, so don't add too much red. Work your way up adding maybe some bestial brown mixed with red, and then some light browns and some red. Dunno how this will work out either lol

If you got the basics of highlighting and shading done you know the drill. For the colours just mix colours on your palette, and see what tones you feel happy with. Experiment these colours on some test models to see what the colours looks like on a mini. Good luck

for blonde hair what i do is used gw skull white with small parts of yellow to look about right (depends on type of blonde) cant remember the name (the brightest yellow gw do) and adding more white to highlight (sorry cant be more in depth didnt write down colour combos when last painted blonde or what mix i did)

another colour that is slightly like blonde is GW bleached bone maybe lightened/darkened for taste

(advise testing on an expendable or very easily stripped model first)

i personaly only use gw paints if you use other paints then sorry i didnt know

Blond is not exactly the most urgent one, as I have one way of painting it. Just looking for one or two other ways for variation.

The red is the one I really need though.

@mutantpotato: Yes, it makes sense (sort of. ). Have tried the brown and red combo (which turned out to be Dark Flesh really. ), but it didn't quite work.

for red hair i would as mutants didnt work maybe darken red with but add orange to it im not sure ill ask a gw staff member and get back to you
