Really enjying the simplicity of this plastic sculpt, it's the new boxset from GW and this guy is big enough for the detailing to be acceptasble. My intention was to paint him old school but once i got going i said nah... blood, rust, hmmm.... Almost standard bits, i chopped up the spear arm and made it a shield arm instead,so he's a lefty .... an intelligent Orc and i lopped of one of the horns, here he is so far;

Another clinic on how to do rust...I'll be adding this to my reference pics. Interesting take on the skin tones--what recipe are you using?

This is one off my 'Greenskin Experiments' which has been aborted but i'll keep it for this guy, it's a base mix of 1 part GW Dark Angels Green, 1 part GW Chaos Black, 2 parts GW Catachan Green, brought to midtone with Catachan Green and highlighted wih Kommando Khaki, then a glaze of Warlock Purple over the highlights! Thanx for the compliments all

Looks great, I wouldn' change the skintone on him, rather have him as an albino Orc, who's really had to fight his way to the top, because of his skin colour, and is now particulary hard for it!!

Quick update; I've painted the shoulder guards and belly pan thing! The metals are all going to be a different state of decay! I don't want an Orc to look uniform, even if it's rusty! Next up, Tartan pants

Gosh man, you'r up early in the morning( or haven't you got to sleep jet ?) The metall is looking very good, and I think it's a cool idea that the different metall parts is in various state of rust battledammage. Looking forward to the tartans

The skintone is indeed different, but I think it looks awesome. The metals are just fantastic, the rust and battle damage is so cool ;D I think I can see some dried blood at the blade aswell, nice touch

Now this lad is proper 'ard, call him 'MacWarboss'! Just a few rehighlights on the metals after a dullcote (I brush on at periods during the development as if i make a booby it is easy removed with brush soap without affecting the finished areas;) ) and the pants, i wasn't so fussed on the pink/green/yellow but it seems to suit the guy, can't see too many highlanders wearing pink tartan though ;D ;

Well blow me away with a bagpipe!
Thats an amazing job on the tartan Dennis, absolutly outstanding. I've seen a lot of orc/ks in my time and thats the first one I've ever seen with tartan and it looks amazing. Great work. The skin doesn't do it for me but that just my opinion.

Probably the final update before showcase, so speak now or forever hold you tounge! I'd say the Dullcote has totally bolloxed the handle of the sword/choppa thing, so it needs a serious bit of rework, the brass bangle i'm mega happy with, i used Tim's recipe for bronze but made a few alterations, expect more tin bitz from me in future, it saved me about 10 coats of wash;) on the pic a few details need cleaning up and a few spots have been missed with the dulcote so i'll be doing that. I will stay with the controversial skintone.. well, because it's contoversial methinx Thanx for all the input, i hope to finish him off tonight and get down to some serious work...i just can't take plastic seriously with the exception of Illyad's resin (bust!) Anyhooo (yes! i do watch King of Queens and it's mega silly) here's the geezer, MacGeezer;

Excellent work, the tartan pants are very well done and also very different for an Orc. The metals are superb. Damn is nothing sacred

Smashing Dennis, absolutely smashing. I really wish there was something for me to critic (to sooth my bruised ego!) but it really is a great job. I think the tartan really makes it to be honest. It pushes it from a really well painted mini to an amazing mini. Congratulations.

To quote an advert that used to follow CSI.
Stunning work as I'm sure I've already said, love the tartan.
