Thanks mousekiller, for both the advice and nice comment ;D Testors dullcoat seems like a good option, but I think I'll go for glazing with normal GW colours at least for the rest of this mini

The answer is too heavily thin it down this takes away the glossiness, it should be realy thinned down with a fair bit of water about 75/25 water to ink ratio at a guess. Don't apply it as a wash but try to paint it on in even layers. Some inks never lose their glossiness but green ink does.

Thanks for the tip mate. I will really try to find a place to buy the old green ink. I see the results you get by using it, and it got be good! I think dark green is one of the inks that never loose their glossyness. I will do a test model to see though. Does anyone know where to buy green ink? Or maybe some other manufacurers have the same ink?

Members of WoM, I need your help! I need your help to decide what colour to use. 1. Mask/mouth protection thing: What colour do you think would suit here? I am thinking maybe red, or will that draw too much attention away from the face? 2. Shoulder pad: What colour will suit here? I am thinking red or chequered pattern. What do you think? 3. Leather strap: I need help to decide the colour of the leather strap (not the fur). I am thinking a darker tone of brown. What's your opinion? Thanks

1. I agree that red would bring attention away from the face. If you can pull it off I think black and white checkers would be cool.
2. Shoulder guard-if you end up doing the face mask checkers, why not make this red? Then you don't have to worry about the face.
3.I'd say light brown fur and very dark brown band.

Thanks buddy. As you say, the idea of having the shoulder red while the face mask chequered (or the other way around) is a good idea. The only thing is that I am not sure if I am ready for going into cheques yet They can be quite complex, and I have next to no experience with freehand painting. But what do you think of the idea that the facemask will be dark red, and have scratches and weathered off paint? Hopefully this will not draw too muc attention away from the face?

the red mouth guard sounds cool, i think if you put the cheques on the mouth guard that would draw more attention away, so go with cheque shoulder pad and red mouth guard imo ;D ;D

I'd agree with Rogue with regards to the mouth guard and shoulder pad.

Thanks for the comments I got to have this finished this friday, so I really need to get my ass into gear. I will do both the shoulder and mouth red, because cheques will take too much time to do. And I also think doing battle damage on red armour will be great fun, and I am really looking forward to try it out ;D Do you guys have any tips on how to do red battle damage? So the rest I will do is: 1: All the metallic areas 2: Mouth/teeth 3: Red areas 4. Details (eyes, nails, etc) 5: A final touch up of all the areas 6: Base

Once you have finished working the red, I would base your damage with pure black, then fill that in with Gunmetal, leaving a thin rim of black. Add a bit of mithril for the highlights. If you wanted to rust it out, perhaps do thin streaks of a dark brown or VMC Smoke with some dilute orange on top of that. Just my opinion, of course, but I hope that helps.

Cheers Jabber I just looked at some printed out pictures I have of Tim's orks that were lying on my desk while I were painting. And I just noticed how he painted his shoulder pads; rusty metallics. They looked so cool that I will now paint the facemask in rusty metallics, and maybe even the shoulder pad too. Thanks for the inspiration Tim ;D

Thanks mate ;D Yeah I know some of the areas aren't quite finished yet. The teeth, eyes, axe shaft, axe etc are a bit rushed. So I will work more on those areas

looks great, the older 40k orks are some of the best GW minis IMO and you're doing it justice. I like the somewhat unusual shade of green for the skin, though I think an extra highlight wouldn't hurt.

I really like the skin and the colours workl together nice, although a check pattern somewhere would have looked cool , shame you are pressured for time.
