When I said you win the LoTR category, it was not a joke. And I really think you have a really good chance to win everything you enter, if you can get it finished in time. Seeing your GG minis so far, I think all of them have been better than the last years winners.
The GK looks stunning. As Andrè said, the blueish colour looks great. The freehand on the shield looks good too. But I think the metal parts could have used just a bit more shading (but that's because I like metals extra dirty).

Excellent work but here are a couple of things that I feel will improve it, first put some writing on the open book on the shoulder pad, books are rarely blank secondly the writing on the parchment scroll on the opposite pad is not dark enough it doesn't jump out at you oh and just another thought the skull under the same pad at the elbow joint could do with a darker shadow under the jaw.

Brilliant work!
More writing would indeed be cool.

Thanx guys! No worries Mikkel, IRL the armour is not so brilliant and as it's a hands on comp i'll keep it as is, but thanx for your enthusiastic support! ;D ..........after the show it's pub time btw! You're spot on Tim, i'll add some lettering to the book and darken 'MVNCH', this was my idea of having brother corporeal 'Munch' like in the norwegian painter!! For the whole squad (which this is the first off) i'm gonna name them after my fave artists... ohhh, and i reckon i'll darken the skull too.. ...keep it comin guys, i want that big gold statue thing

Might be the picture but the skull on his arm looks a little flat. Also, not sure if anyone else said this yet, but the scroll work coming off of his back could use some hieroglyphs or something to spruce em up.
And if I have not said it yet, you are an amazing painter. All the little details really set this guy apart.

Thanx Mousekiller, I will be adding some depth to the skull... the point about the purity seals is something i have mused over for a long while, do i or do i not add script... personally i have yet to see a mini with it done well on and the Terminators are very busy with details, this was my reasoning for not adding more as i feel it would distract from the more important aspects of the mini, especially when held in your hand and being viewed as a complete piece. @razh, the green is GW Scaly Green with add mix of chaos black, about 75/25... brought up wit adding more scaly green then highlighted with adding bleached bone... if it gets a bit glarey just add a touch of chaos black to kill the saturation.. ...@mousekiller, ps thanx for your compliment! you're not three bad with a brush yourself

I had to look long and hard for anything additional to critique other than what Tim and MK offered...but on the rear shot, the turquoise bits look like they could use one more highlight. You had mentioned you liked Ritual's style--the turquoise on the loincloth is highlighted up a bit more then the gun and shoulder pad (at least that is the way it appears in the pic). Assuming a zenithal lightsource I would make it a bit brighter just on the very corners? I'm being ultra nitpicky here, but it was the only thing I could come up with.

This is the repaired GW after a sky dive without a chute! I'm going to just leave him for a wee while although i have to clean of a mould line i found on the back of the halberd hilt but its a simple repair. Thanx Sean for your nitpick! I took you up on it and made a few other highlight adjustments as well, i also think the halberd looks better now... Anyhow, enjoy; & An Update on Boromir; & An Update on Be'Lakor, the base is removable, i intend to give him some kind of red flesh but i'm musing over it for now; & Lastly my Eldar Ranger;

Its hard to believe it has been broken. Love the runes in the book Edit: ahh I did just see the first one before. Boromir looks, if possble, even better now the shield is almoste perfect. the is a small dot of red on the gold though. the other ones are great too but I can't go into details atm, I have to rush to the food.

really coming along. Although it is early on, I think my favorite is going to be that Be'lakor model. Can't wait to see more progression.

The GK and Boromir is awesome. But I have told you many times before so I don't need to say more ;D Te eldar ranger looks absolutely amazing! The beige clothing looks so good, and very realistic. Now I see how bad the robes of my Dark Angels Sergant is lol. The face is also very well blended, but I'm not so sure about the skintone The sculpt looks really good, and when I will try my first 54 mm it might be the eldar ranger. But I can see you have spilled some green paint at the base! Haha lol just kidding

I've put the GK and Boromir on CMON.... maybe you'd like to vote... honestly. Watched the score go from 8.9 and 7 votes for the GK (which i gave an 8) drop to 8.1 and 8 votes. i think it's not a bad score but mathematically it means someone gave me 2.5! Surely it's not that uncool www.coolminiornot.com/151886Similar thing happened to Boromir but he's rising again www.coolminiornot.com/151885Sniping f******s take away a lot of the desire to do well, to please the community as much as yourself, but they can't take your ability of which they obviously have not...and i hope you're reading this

Voted on both, i gave both 9's they are both excellent pieces. I know what you mean about snipers, it can be quite dissapointing to see the score drop so suddenly, but its the comments that really matter.

I can't understand CMON, its a pretty rediculous sight IMO, I mean that grey knight terminator is flawless or damn near, it should have like a 9.5 or above. It seems like whenever I visit I see nothing but low scores on brilliant work (unless its scribor's press moulded wonders which inevitably have 9 or 10). Have you tried Frothers painting area? I know that the sculpting area is a great forum, lots of activity and honest reviews of work.

One other thing i find about CmON is that it is very subjective tot he painter and the model. A GW model will always fair better than other manufacturers models, and a well known painter will almost always attract better scores than a lesser known painter.

I tend not to post minis on Cmon now, as I feel the same, there are too many folks who just sit and vote low on even stunning minis, in what my guess is, to make themselves feel better about the shabby attempts at painting they may have doone, either that or they are just malicious B*****DS!!!!

well known painter will almost always attract better scores than a lesser known painter. That is so true. Many of the "CMoN celibrities" will allways get good scores, even if the minis are not that good. And another thing is the painting teams. I think it is a good idea, and the members are indeed great painters. But it can get a out of hand sometimes. The members vote well on eachothers minis, but not allways on other minis. I remember seeing a stunning mini, and one of my all time favourites, but a member of the Spanish team voted 7 and said it was badly painted

I think CMoN would be great if it had an anonimous posting, then after 50 votes the name of the poster would be revealed. Of course people would probably still show em off in forums though.

I am not a huge fan of CMON, but it is not a bad site. I know some of my stuff I have recieved comments like: Nicely painted, but not worth a 9, so I gave it a 3 to even the score. If people would just vote what they think and not consider the score than in would be much more fair.
Anyway, off to vote on these really awesome mini's.

CMoN is really in my opinion not worth being on for the voting system. The forums are great, you can find lots of help and inspiration, but if you put your work up you had best be ready to get cut down. Some of my work has scored higher than I ever expected (http://www.coolminiornot.com/123145 I honestly expected to sit around 7), and some of it has scored far lower than I expected (http://www.coolminiornot.com/150571 was at one point sitting around 6.3 i think...). If you want feedback its better to go to the forums. Anyways. I really like what you've done with all those models. Belakors base is brilliant... Don't let CMoN get you down.

I think we all have good points, and in such a big environment there is always a little controversy... i'm a little philosophical about it now, 'cause i sat down and digged deep as to what aspects of the mini could abhor someone, but most importantly i sat and gave myself some honest criticism.... .....SO! His armour has been repainted, i had tried a new technique which came out very beautiful, but too clean and shiny for what i hope to be a complete squad of converted termies which i want to consider as veteran campaigners... a lot darker and dirtier now. i also fixed the sculpted lettering in the shoulders and plates to bring out the detail, more red but a lot more effective... and the most important improvement was the base, i thought it was too mundane and when it dropped a large crack was appearing, filled it and gave the base a frost/snow look which i had originally intended, the contrast between the mini and base has really helped bring out some highlights and the reds. Again thanx and especially to those who commented
