Hello, Iv been painting the metallics on a Vostroyan Sniper and i would like to know what i should do next? Any more washes/highlights? And if there is any 'essential' steps iv missed in the middle! I thought i would ask it on here aswell as CMoN because Tim the Metallics expert resides here! Basecoat in Gunmetal Grey Wash with a mix of Flat Earth/Black Wash with black 3 times for shading Repaint Gunmetal Grey Highlight with Silver Black Glaze Re highlight silver Metallic medium on the very tips Any tips would be much appreciated, as im really trying to improve my metallics, taking onboard comments from Skarsnik and Gobbla. Iv used small images or this post would be HUGE! lol

So far it looks pretty good from what I can see, the images could do to be a little bigger but I would say that at the moment the silvery grey colour looks pretty realistic. I find that with Grey metals there is only so light you can go ie silver and that it is best to darken the overall effect back into the deeper areas with washes, or even mix black into the base metal colour and then work up from there this gives the impression of the final highlight being alot brighter than it actually is.

Looks good, but the images is a bit small to see the details. I like dark metals, and the metals look dark enough, but I don't think you should highlight with silver, choose a darker metal colour instead. I like to mix brown into the glazes/washes to make the armour feel weathered. Even green and purple (very very thin) washes can look good, but that's depending on the mini you're painting.
