Well I thought I would put up a progress report on my contest Orc. The mini is from Ilyad Games and is a very nice sculpt a little different from the norm for Orcs and the obvious influence for the sculpting can be clearly seen. It is listed as a Brown Orc Champion but I have gone for the usual greenskin look. I wish I had the guy from the Warhammer Giant set that is running away as that would be great for a base. But I don't have it and therefor will have to come up with something a little different. If I get this done I may try and get a goobo as an entry done too.

Mmm size, it is fairly large I will do a size comparison next time a take a picture, as for the cost if I remember right it was about £8.00. Sadly Ilyad Games are no more so these are becoming harder to get.

looking fabulous Tim!!!!! is it me or does the orc look a bit like a gorilla? just the pose i mean and how the run... Yup that is what I was saying about the obvious inspiration for the sculpt. I think that it makes the mini truly unique and very savage looking. Thanks for the feedback and kind words.

Cheers mate, I'll take you up on that, is it painted at all as I would prefer it if it isn't. I don't want to buy the giant just for that mini.

Ok you've won, my poor ol' Berserker doesn't have a chance... Seriously Tim your painting is amazing! I don't think you should be allowed to enter and give some other people a chance!!

The bronze is really great--thats a hard effect to achieve without over doing it but that looks perfect.
I'm not sure I would have chosen the tatoo design-wise, but whatever.

Lovely work mate! Great work on the metal and the face aswell (and the skin of course). I like the hair too, so to make a long story short, I like everything so far.
Its the first orc with a tail i have seen, or is it not at tail?
Cheers,
Razh

Yes it is a tail mate, that is why I like the Ilyad range of Orcs there sculpts are a refreshing change to the everyday more comical looking orcs that we are used to seeing. Not that I don't like other Orcs as you know it is just these are more savage looking.

I'm not sure I would have chosen the tatoo design-wise, but whatever. Is it the "design" on the outside of the raised arm, mminiatures? I think that is supposed to be musculature. One question Tim--is the forearm armor split on the inside of the left arm or is that a mold line?

Tats 'n' mouldlines! You're getting it rough Looking awesome, your metals always amaze me, i'm off to rethink again

mmm the thing that you might thingk is a tattoo is the way the musculature has been sculpted around the elbow area, as for the armour, there are dents and gouges already sculpted into the armour and I think that is what you can see on the forearm, there are no mould lines on this mini, and that isn't down to my preparation it was extremely clean cast and took very little prep work at all.

Here is an update of the Orc, crappy light tonight so I am struggling to get decent pics. A couple of things need redoing but overall I am happy with it thus far. Not far to go now before I can start to plan the base.
