Hey everyone, long time no post. Haven't really been partaking on any forums lately so don't think it was just you. I'm finally home again after four months on the other side of the country for school, and guess what? That means I have a camera again. So for your enjoyment I've snapped a couple photos of my current projects. First off my Arena Montreal entry (placed 2nd in fantasy single): Terrible picture... It's source/ambient lighting... it's horrible to photograph... I've decided I need to do more work on it so I'll get better pics when it's done. Gobbo #2: This guy is essentially a practice in NMM and after some lessons from Starks333 also in desaturates and blending These are some shots of my incredibly slowly going Blood Ravens:

Welcome back mate!! Nice painting, and congrats on the placing!! Really don't like the 2nd gobbo mini, it's the worst mini I've seen from Gw in a long while, the paintwork however is dead nice!!

Thanks for the comments guys. It's nice to be able to post again.
@tim: I'm happy with the marines, but I've had to drop the quality a lot just to get some of them done... The original plan was to do the entire army at the level of my vet and librarian... Most troops will be this quality, with the characters and elites being at a higher quality.
@bruenor: I wasn't really fond of the second gobbo at first, but he's better than the other one available in that blister. I actually dont mind the sculpt that much, the one thing I didn't like were the spikes on the swords.
I've got the LE Night Gobbo coming in the mail (the one pointing with his sword, and shield to the side), as well as the LE witch hunter inquisitor. I've got a bunch of GD projects planned, and hopefully starting soon as well, but I dont know if any pics will find their way to the interweb.

Well. I accidentally left the gobbo back home in Edmonton so there wont be any progress on him till the summer ... At any rate, here's something I dont think I ever posted here: Davian Thule, Commander of the Blood Ravens 2nd Company: and my current project: still not done the greenstuff on the other arm, and not entirely happy with the greenstuff on this arm but oh well. My goal is to finish him by tomorow night to make him eligible for the January GT... though maybe the february one might be a better idea. And also get him done in time for a small comp here on saturday. We'll see if either of those goals will be met lol.

The space marine is awesome, that gold is very nice looking, it looks almost antique. The empire mini I think is going to look cool too, the face already is excellent.

The metallics are very nice on that marine. That Empire guy looks awesome! How did you get such a nice purple on the hat? It looks great.

Thanks for the comments guys. The space marine is actually an older project that I just got around to photographing. He's not quite done to be honest, I would like to touch up the armour, and add some scratches to it.
@doctordoom: The purple is done with a basecoat of lich purple, then for highlights I add a bit of space wolf grey (usually in two steps), and then for the final highlight I add some bleach bone till I get a slightly beigeish purple result. I use liche purple mixed with a bit of black to do the shade, and finally I do glazes of straight liche purple to smooth it out. If necessary I'll thin the other mixes (the highlights and the shade) and glaze those in their respective areas till it is a nice smooth transition. I'm just starting to get used to the technique but I'm getting better with every model I try it on.
As for the gold you all seem to like so much it's really really simple. Its tin bitz, glazed with black ink, highlighted with dwarf bronze, glazed with black, highlighted with shining gold and dwarf bronze, glazed with black, highlighted with shining gold, and then finally highlighted to the extreme with a shining gold mithril mix. Really simple. It's a lot of steps but it takes very little time in reality.
