Inquisitor w/retuine Diorama Idea

Hi guys. I'm starting on a project for a competition in Norway called Golden Griffon. It's in may 2007, but I like being a little early. I haven't started on the project yet, so you won't see any pictures yet, I'm currently just looking for guidance and advice on the way.

My idea is an Iquisitor with his retuine on a chaos tainted world. There will be some chaos icons, bodies hung up on crosses and pikes and a body hung up on a chaos star.

All the models will be on a dirama base. The ground will be sort of grey/dark brown'ish with bodies and dead chaos marines on the ground. The ground will also be cracked open with lava/warp gate stuff underneath to show that this world is tainted with chaos.

I have drawn inspiration from the computer game "Dawn of War" and the 40K 3rd edition rulebook. (look at the screenshots and the scans).

This is the screenshot from dawn of war. This shows roughly what my idea is. The models are just for reference, and I will not use any of these. In the background, you can see one of the crosses I will try to create.

Please tell me what you think. I would appreciate links to suitable GW miniatures I can convert into any of the guys on the pictures.

I would love to order them, but i think it's very expensive to ship forge world stuff to Norway. It's a great idea though, and the models look amazing, so I hope i can get hold of them somehow.

I don't know very much about 40k but i like the concept and especially that gruesome cross. The corpses you could take from the Rackham Drune Soul Snatcher, he carries a corpse like that on his back and it is on a seperate spru, if your lucky they still may have some in Outland in Paleet (Karl Johans Gate, Oslo), that's where i got one.

I think it would be good if the retinue etc where coming down a slope so you don't obscure each of the models too much... that's all i can think of for now

For the corpses, I have planned to use the warhammer zombie sprue + a lots green stuff.

But I will definetly pay Outland a visit, but I haven't seen any Rackham minis at Outland. I hope I can find a Rackham mini, I'm looking forward to paint something other than GW ;D

I've been thinking of placing the Inquisitor and his retuine at the top of a hill, with the inquisitor in the middle, to draw as much attention to him as possible.

I have to do some concept drawings and some planning, to figure out their poses and placement. I aslo have to figure out witch GW models I will use for the conversions.

They have a small selection in the Oslo store i mentioned, just to the left of the sale counter, they won't be restocking as they have had problems with the amount they could order from Rackham but they still have some beautiful choices and as far as i have noticed i seem to be the only person buying them!

If I had noticedd, I would really bought some. I will drop by Outland and by some minis when I get the chance. I think most people buy GW stuff rather than other mini companies. I think most people care more about the gaming than the artistic beauty of the miniatures! That's a pity...
