No pics yet but i'm hoping to get help on Typhus from the very beginning. This is my first 40k and i've had a look at other painters versions but i have a few dilemmas! Is it expected or part of the 40k game that nurgle lords must be a decaying green colour and putrid flesh? I was thinking of making him PINK!!! What is the general ethos of 'Nurgle'? (I Am that naive! I'm a LoTR fan/player) I hope to make this mini a long term project for a competition in May and to have you guys help me make it a winner Over the last few days i have been sculpting the base, using milliput white for the first time. I don't think i'll use Green Stuff again, milliput is fantastic stuff, i love how you can score it and sand it the next day. I'll have pics up of the base very soon.

hi, the answers: 1)absolutely yes 2)pink is very nice but if you want to win the competition i'll stay on the background nurgle colors. 3)Spreading death and disease among the livings, as i said before his gifts to the followers are bubbons, diseases, stench and so on.

menace you have lured me into this thread and you have no picture - arrrggghh! look forward to seeing what you come up with menace!
I wouldn't relegate greenstuff to the dustbin so quick it can achieve effects milliputt can't. I would recommend using them both. Don't forget you can mix them to get a hybrid of their properties as well. Milliputt is great for working on afterwards though isn't it! I use it for weapon blades etc. mainly.

Ok mate, Nurglke or Father Nurgle as he is known to his followers is the Lord of Decay, he bestows gifts on his favourites in the form of disease and mutations and decompostion. So green and browns and that sort of rotten colouring are the norm. Definately not PINK as that is the colour of Tzeench a totally different god. I bought Typhus a long time ago and have been meaning to paint it for a long time. If you want to swot up on your Chaos Gods then the Liber Chaotica books are great but better still are the books Slaves to Darkness and the Lost and The Damned, the latter being older books from GW and usually cost a mint off e-bay but no better background books have ever been written by GW.

Maybe Nurgle can turn over a kinder, pinker leaf?

Thanx guys for the advice and references, i'm not going to go with pink, but i will think long and hard over how i will make Typhus look, how much decay and corrosion i should apply and how far i should take the contrast of the paintwork. I'll keep updates and advice would be great. It's not much but here's the start, the nurgling is tiny, and i thought i'd better get a pic up for dfb a better one of the nurgly One question, does anyone know what these are, are they nurgle armour as i've seen painted a corroded gunmetal, or are they big pusy thingies...eyuch...?? Since i've started this model i've been blessed with two boils and a bout of the 'farmer giles' ;D

Thanks for the pictures, looks very good an extreme close up of a mini is always a good test and that little nurgling looks great.
Just a thought about your frog incident, have you considered it as a sign from nurgle himself ? Maybe it was a frog messenger and not a ninja assassin after all. Come to bring you a holy message from Nurgle to great dressed up in your best suit, print some pamphlets and go knocking door to door, preaching the unholy gospel of nurgle??? Or then again maybe I have been drinking too much beer and am talking garbage.

One can never drink too much beer and 'garbage' is more entertaining than politics ;D Wait 'til next time i'm drunk (which probably won't be too long) and you'll read some real verbal diorrhea!

Great start. The little nurg is looking very good. I believe those spots on the back are not pus pockets so much as "growths" or tumors of some sort.

I suppose 'DotD' would be a top porno for a Nugle I've looked at loads of others and how the sculpting is, i think it is too uniform to be growths and most seem to interpret them as metal.... possibly it could be a hybrid i will do, some sort of growth out of metal! Dfb got me thinkin thet might be Wharfdale 1000W megaspeakers for playing the Valkyrie as he mutilates some SM, or is that S&M, phnaar Anyway.. progress, i've just about done with the base, i was thinking of putting a layer of hyper glossy epoxy over the effluent from the sewage pipe, what y'all think? (and any other mumbo jumbo u can think of)

Ahh...masterful goo you have there, Menace. I think a really glossy finish would look good. The rebar coming out of the concrete is spot on as well!

Ah menace, you make me so jealous damn you. Very nice base indeed and yes slap some gloss on it, and concrete isn't concrete without chewing gum stains all over it so that might add even more realism. I'm sending you a ninja frog in the post so watch out.

Those things on typhus's back prolly are tumors, but the pattern of them is very similar to a pattern on nurgles body (in the codex), and nurgles icon is 3 green skull/heads piled on top of each other in the pattern of those, so it might be an icon.

Hi Dennis. Now you ruined my hope of maybe have a chance of taking a gold in next years GG ;D The base looks amazing, and I love that little nurgling, is he inspired by your little frog incident? ;D If you want him pink, I suggest converting him into slaanesh (emperor's children). You can find info about slaanesh here: uk.games-workshop.com/chaosspacemarines/emperorschildren/And here's some general info about nurgle (death guard): uk.games-workshop.com/chaosspacemarines/deathguard/Hope this is useful to you. Good luck at Golden Griffon (if we don't meet before GG, we will at least meet there ). Cheers Mikkel

If you don't have the time to finish some more, just use some of your old minis. I would really recomend to use the dark elf corsair, or the dark elf assasin in the Warhammer Singel category. Both of them is really great, and have good chances to win ;D

At the moment i'm working on;
Wood Elf Spellsinger (the one with the large horns!) for WH singel
Typhus for 40K singel
Artemis (inquisitor) for large figure
and i'm waiting for the new LoTR figs from TTT supplement for the Lotr singel...
I think that lot will do as i hope to be painting a 2000AD collection at the same time!

Okay, heres mine:
40k singel: Chaos Lord
Lotr singel: Gandalf the grey
Open: Inquisitor w/ retuine diorama
I haven't yet decided the large scale and warhammer singel, but I don't think I have the time for it.
Cheers
