Hello everybody, would appreciate it if some of you could pop over to here z14.invisionfree.com/The_Lost_Glade/index.php?showtopic=1679 and take a look the wardancer. I need some feedback on it so I can re-tweak it (after I finish moving). Please excuse the crappy photo, it's a little too small to appreciate the finer details of the model. I may try and post a better one here later. I want to put this model in my CMON gallery at some stage but I don't think it's up to it scratch at the minute. Cheers guys.

I think it looks good but I do think that the highlights could go a touch further on some of the green areas, I think with a slightly better pic it should be fit for Cmon though.

Thanks for the advice Tim. To be honest I'm surprised you mentioned that! I didn't think that much needed doing on the green cloth. I know the blue cloth is crying out for more attention! I also think the hair needs more highlighting and deeper shadows, the tartan needs scrapping as the streamer is just to thin (for me at least) to get away with an effective attempt at tartan on it. The legs need smoother shading (they were ok at one stage I think I cocked it up by redoing it) and the bark on the tree needs more work. Some more work on the sword as well. That sound about right as to what needs doing on it?
Cheers.

I would say that you have pretty much covered everythng, the tartan is just on too small an area to realy be noticable, I think though with a little more work you will have a top class mini there.

Thanx DFB Very well painted, the areas are well defined but at the moment i think, imho, that it all needs a few more layers on the highlights to make it special. The gems seem too solid, i got a great tutorial of cmon i must dig out for you, it helped me 'fake' the glass look. You could maybe make the vines a brighter green as they are getting lost with the cloth... and although the tartan is a valiant effort i have to agree with tim that it's hard to define on such a thin strip ...hope i don't sound to negative 'cause a little more work and you'll have a little beauty.... Perhaps with your sculpting ability you could also have some mosses or vines growing over the rocks, i like the base but i'd like it even 'busier'... [word deleted], i better shut up before u hit me! Here's a link www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/205and a better one www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/200

Cheers menace, I'll check those links later and see what I can gleen from them. All your points are taken on board. The mini is packed away now (and it will soon be time to pack my beloved pc and say goodbye to the internet for a while to!!) but I'm looking foward to improving this one with the pointers gathered here. Hopefully it will look nearly as good as that guy in the tartan you're painting menace!!!! But I'm not quite at your level yet so I doubt it!! By the way, moss on the stone is a good idea, I don't know why I didn't think of doing it - durrr!!! I love the little guy being sucked down into the earth I "sculpted" as the best feature of the base though.
Regarding the tartan, I think I will overpaint it enchanted blue. It was a thorough nightmare trying to do the inside of the strip I can tell you and it doesn't look too pretty inside. I may put a tartan pattern on the blue cloth on the front though instead. The gems I had a go at and then painted with ardcoat to do the shine on the cheap!! They will be remied also.
Anyway, I'm not sure I should have posted that pic here as the competition it is in is supposed to be anonymous. So sssshhhhh.........

Second is not bad, if you can't get the top spot then the second is not to be sniffed at, well done mate.
