Hey all, I just started this yesterday: I'm really happy with the cloth, but not so sure about the armour. I'm not sure whether I like the colour or the shinyness. Well it'll probably grow on me. Alex

The cloth is indeed very good, though it will benefit from a couple of glazes. The armour I think looks very much like one you'd see in a historic mini, though I don't know if that's what you are aiming for. Looking forward to see more progress, good job so far!

Cheers mate,
I'm not sure if its the paint, or if something i'm doing is completely wrong. But when I tried a glaze on this mini ( using VGC imperial blue ) it left random light blue patches on the skirt. It seems like chromatoghraphy has happend on the mini.
I'm not quite sure what you mean about the armour, could you explain. ( i know little of historical miniatures )
Cheers,
Alex

I think the armour could do with going lighter more towards gold and then possibly give it a green glaze or two. The shininess can be remedied by dullcoat if you don't like it.

Nice job on this one Elrohir. I like the cloth very much. I might suggest just a hint of an additional highlight towards the bottom of the cloth on the raised portions. A fairly thin wash of brown may tone down the shine a bit.

Thanks heaps for all the compliments on the cloth! Defantly my best stuff yet. I was going for a more coppery colour for the armour, but it doesn't go that well with the blue... i'm still not sure. Will give it a few glazes though. Cheers, Alex EDIT: Little update:

green glazes should help you with that coppery look.

Well, this doesn't compare to my high elf, but I haven't finished anything in ages! ( 11 months ) So.. I'm just trying to get it done. Alex

Nice Alex that is a good gaming standard and would grace any wargames table nicely.

Cheers Tim.
Have primed the Fellowship Pippin, and will try and paint him as GD practice.

Good looking mini, Alex. I like the weathering along the bottom of the cloak.
