Nemetis the Sacriligious

I didn't want to post this guy as i was going to hold out for the competition but so many details and experiments will be lost when i glue the arms and head on i just had to get some feedback.

The base is Dark Age(just the plastic bit!!), sculpting is done with Milliput White/Superfine and this is the first time i've used it. Greenstuff is better for the immediate but this stuff is so f'in great in the afterward that i've made up a couple of 32mm & 54mm armatures and decided to try a bit of sculpting!!

The armour was an experiment for Stern who i am starting on next week.. i thought i'd like Stern to be in red armour with a few Grey Knight Terminators and a handful of grey Knights to be my GDUK08 Squad Entry... thats my intention anyway... i'm so happy with the armour.....

......but i must gripe about the cast quality of this figure

I spent a good 3/4 hours cleaning flash but the real problem was what i overlooked when greenstuffing... i was nearly going to bin this guy while painting as the imperfections are.. ok .. not in the line of fire but as a painter i'd rather not have to deal with it...

I've also noticed that a lot/ nearly all on CMON have a bent AXe (go have a look), this is because to get the axe to fit in the right place you have to reposition the left leg.. this is shit marketing as far as i'm concerned... and although i have a lot of issues with GW none have been as bad as the amount of work i've had to do to this figure and it is still imperfect...

i hope my next is better cause i have a box full of them



PS i wanted to say the red is metallics.. but then you knew that, didn't you ;D

Beautiful work mate, I have this model but dare not paint it and now I have seen yours I dare not even more. Love the skin tone and the red metalic that is just excellent.

Awesome work, Menace. The armor rocks as does the skintone as do the claws as does the loincloth, as does the base... Consider me officially a dedicated fanboy of your work!

I have never seen this mini before, so I have nothing to compare to.

Personally I don't like the sculpt (maybe cause it don't have head or arms lol ;D). It is wonderfully painted though, and the base is friggin awesome!

Consider me a fanboy too, so now you have two fans! ;D

For the flesh i wanted to do something different, so i looked around the web at what colours are generally used on Wolfen and then thought hard about doing something original... the only thing I could think of was human flesh! However I didnt want it too pink..

It's based in equal amounts with Liche Purple/Dwarf Flesh/Raw Umber, then worked up first with Dwarf Flesh then Elf Flesh then Skull White. I think the purole comes through well and suits this guy. Hopefully you'll be able to see the subtlety of the shading better when i post some bigger pics.

The armour I did a little differently than i normally do, first i based it with Mithril Silver, then worked over it with glazes of Dwarf Bronze mixed with just enough Blood Red to make it red but not loose the metallic look, then working back the shading with first Liche Purple and then Chaos Black. After i Dullcoted him i coated the armour with Humbrol Matt Varnish to bring back to the original look.

@mikkel, i think you'll like the finished sculpt, it is my favourite devourer, the pose is really cool...not evident yet without his arms and head!

Menace, as usual, you have done a fantastic job on this mini! It looks simply amazing, I just don't understand how some of you guys can't paint this good...

Looks superb already, sounds like the work you're doing is going to pay off in the end, although when you buy a mini, you shouldn'tr have to make the parts fit correctly, they just should.
Love the metallic red, I'm a bit of a sucker for metallics, must have been a Magpie in a previous life.
