Hey Everyone, As some of you may know, I started minis with LOTR and have decided to do something a little different just for fun. I was given the following two minis and thought I'd start with one of them. But first a few questions... 1. What are they? I mean, I know they are WH but do they have names? 2. What colours should I paint them? I'm guessing that the drummer is just a human, but does his uniform have a certain colour scheme? And the Big Guy, is he some kind of Orc? Any tips? 3. Which one should I start with? ;D Thanks for looking.

Well the human is an Empire soldier, looks like a command model (musician, minus the drum though). The orc is from the chariot model. As for the paint scheme on the human every province has its own color scheme, and basically any color scheme is acceptable. Some colour schemes are Altdorf (capital city) - red and blue, Talabhiem - red and yellow, Middenheim - blue, Middenland - blue and white, Reikland - white and some grey, Nuln (cannon/gunner city) - usually black with varying accesory colors (white and yellow are common, green and blue too, but virtually any color is good). Good luck.

Thank you rlangner for the info. Yes indeed there is a drum, and after much thought I decided to paint it seperately. Here is the first update, as usual I start with the face. My first impression is these are much easier to paint than LOTR, the detail is bigger. So far so good. Suggestions, tips or comments appreciated. Thanks for looking

So far so good! I also find WH minis easier to paint, due to the bigger details. have you decided what colour scheme you are going to use for him? here is a map of the empire: web.inter.nl.net/users/thorr/maps/empire1.jpgP.S. the talabheim is red and white it is Talabecland that have red and yellow. And ther are plenty more of Colour Schemes, if you want to know what they look like, just let me know

Wow Curunir not an LOTR mini you will have to be careful now that you are on the slippery slope of something different, remember what Bilbo used to say about stepping out of your front door. Anyway nice start keep us posted.

P.S. the talabheim is red and white it is Talabecland that have red and yellow. And ther are plenty more of Colour Schemes, if you want to know what they look like, just let me know I thought I might have made a mistake, I was doing it off the top of my head. I think it's also worth pointing out that you can paint them virtually any color scheme you please, you can easily justify it by saying its a border prince province, or something like that. Some regiments and forces have distinct colors that are not based on any province. So feel free to do whatever you want.

;DYeah Cur... the bug has bit you now, hope yoy can put some of those painting tips to good use now... I agree, WH are just that little bit more painter friendly than the LOTR so you should relax a little and enjoy the experience.. as far as colours go i know you're doing this just for fun (as you have warned me of straying to Warhammer Fantasy Battlegame ), so the worlds your oyster, paint them anyway you feel inspired to... originality is always appreciated (but don't paint the orc pink )
