Just wondering how everyone else's brains work when looking at miniatures.
What get's you exicted when you look at a miniature for the 1st time, is it the overall look or is it certain elements?
For me it's the details put into the mini, not so much how crisp it is as I like loads of the old pre slotta stuff, and some of that is poorly sculpted, it's more the characturful details that grab me. Things like out of the ordinary face expressions, and not over the top actioned poses.
An ideal mini for me would be one that had bags of character, especially in the facial expression dept', one that conformed more to the fantasy elements that it's born from, not this new fangled realism, plus I do prefer one cast minis, multi parts are ok, but they often fit poorly, and need G'Stuffing and that's a hassle I can live without.
Plus I would pay more for a mini if each came with a basing option of a plain base AND a resin theme fitting scenic base, so you could have the option of both lazy basing and fancy depending on what it was for.
To me a mini should be able to tell it's story without too much help from us.
So that would be my ideal mini, a one piece mini (when I say one piece I mean the actual mini, I don't mind separate backpacks or weapons, but head, body, arms and legs all on one cast) with bags of character, in an action type pose to suit the genre/situation (not static, but not over the top), with a plain and scenic base option, and all shields separate.
(Oh and he would pref be a Barbarian or Dwarf)
More of a RPG type guy. so I like my minis situation specific, like a Barman to be serving ale or drying glasses.
Interested to see what everyone else's take on this is.
