Ok i'm still learning to improve my paint (thanks for all the feedback so far) but i'm reluctant to post stuff on a site like cmon yet. I find the cmon voting system a little strange, so i'm going to "attempt" to code a site that does things a little differently (one thing i can do is code web pages ) Heres the idea 1. The site is NOT a forum. 2. The site wont have ads. 3. The voting system will be blind for the first x weeks, so you wont know who painted it until x weeks or x votes count is passed. 4. The mini's will be linked by manfacturer and mini, so if you want to see how everyone else painted orc xxx by supplier zzz you can compare them easily. 5. The voting will be split into several scores, for example Paint Quality Colour Style Conversion Basing Overall I've reserved two domain names, one of which i will use for the project, so please vote and let me know which seems most appropriate, any other comments appreciated.

it sounds like a very good idea if it works in practice, im sure cmon had the same intent originally, however like i said it sounds good and if and when its going sounds like a refreshing change. imho i dont think it will be too hard to convert some people from cmon ( die hards aside ) as alot of people do not like the way it works now and there is alot of animosity there. i wish you good luck mate and if you get there i will definatley sign up. the anonymous voting is a cool idea ( no pre judgement on name alone ), ads dont really bother me that imo is personal preference and linking mini's by manufacturer and model is a good idea in theory but may be hard to do in practice with people sometimes not knowing manufacturers etc, but i may be and probably am wrong. look forward to your progress on this mate. good luck

I wouldn't go for paintslaves as there is already slavetopaint.com which are the forum of doom painters, the people who do all the stuff for heresy, hasslefree, black scorpian and spyglass.
It will be a big task to get right, but if you do it well, then it should be great.

Good luck in this venture mate, I hope you pull it off. Keeping the painters id invisible until a certain vote level is also a good idea.

Did the vote thing. It sounds like a great idea, like for other reasons mentioned i find CMON voting weird as well. Love the idea of not knowing who painted each mini. Would love to sign up/ be apart of it when it is up and running Cant wait to see the progress and to start voting.
Brilliant ! ! !

Sounds cool mate, good look with this project! I voted for paintforge.com, but unfortunately it is taken. Always do your research: www.allwhois.com/cgi-bin/allwhois.cgiType in the domain name to check whether it has been taken or not. both paintforge.com and paintslaves.com have been taken. Sorry, but you'll have to think of some more names...

Yeap domain names are secured, i think paintforge better fits the sites purpose as well so i'll use that as the main domain.
Thanks for the feedback so far, i'll try and get some prototype stuff up over the weekend.

And here's me thinking I was all smart... well, paintforge is definitely better, so use that!
BTW, I assume GoDaddy.com is your domain host...?

I think this is a great idea! I'd be for paintforge as well--paintslaves does remind me of slavetopaint. The anonymous idea is excellent, although most well known painters have a characteristic style that is fairly readily identifiable. That being said, I would definitely include it. The breakdown also in a great concept and I would be very interested to see it implemented.
