I was wondering what your approach is when a base is a part of the mini?
I have a smaller scale dwarf with Axe (probably 20mm) that I wanted to finish (the base is part of the mini) and I want to add more than the basic solid colour or flock.
Should I build up the base or put in onto another base and sculpey something up?
What would you do?
Cheers, Reddog

Back when i used to game, i would coat the base in sand, shove it a pot of sand, leave it under a hairdryer, smother it with black ink, drybrush with scorched brown then bestial brown then bleached bone.
I hope thats what you were after anyways

You know my concern with the bases attached to the mini? That you lose the foot detail when you flock it or it doesnt look natural as their feet get lost in the base detail...

Ah ok, well you could put some masking tape over the slot in the base if there is one, cover it with sand and such. Then clip the base rail off and stick with grennstuff and super glue.
Should work fine.

Theres a few ways to get rid of 'broccoli' bases. Clip it off with clippers then file section around the feet. Use a dremel, basically the same as the first bit, but with a power tool! Put some sand paper on a flat surface and rub the bottom over it until it is very thin, then it should sit on the base nicey with not to big a rise. Get some hollowed out bases (valloas vale sell em) then when you put it in the feet will already be evel with the base's height.
Hope this helps!
