Finally finished this bad boy up over the holiday. Huge thanks to everyone that pushed me along in the WIP section. If anyone else was too shy to put in their two cents, now is your chance! Vote if you wanna: coolminiornot.com/240011

Looks great Jabberwocky - should get a nice response on cmon. I am not a fan of flail weapons but the paintjob is superb!!! I will pop off and vote now.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, DFB...unfortunately, CMoN remains a cruel mistress...7.1 at my last check.

Ahh well. The painting is still very good, maybe the sculpt itself let it down as it is less well known? 7.1 is still a good score anyway mate. Maybe try an experiment with a more well known model, super elaborate base and see how well that does in comparison scorewise to the models you have done recently which are less recognisable. Could be interesting!

I'm not sure why...it's tough to find reference pics when I have the only painted piece, lol. I do need to expand my basing skills as well. Good thoughts, DFB. Perhaps I look for a bust from some up-and-coming sculpting star...

Lol. I was thinking like a main figure from rackham or GW, hero type character, should be an interesting little project. Lets face it, the one you did that was your first 8 was a pretty bizarre sculpt - very classic D&D styling (always brings back fond memories when I see a sculpt in this vein) and because of the superb paintjob you got a really good response. I guess CMON can be fickle!
On a side note, its interesting to see that a simple colour change on the base made it look so much better. My first comments I believe were to suggest making a more uneven surface to improve it, but the colour change alone has done this. Talking about bases, there are always some good inspirational bases on the weekly top twenty gallery. I like the skaven assassin dude on the inn rooftop and a thief on some rooftops. I was looking at assassins creed console game the other day and thought a character doing a big jump would look cool (dont know whether you have played the game, but big jumps are intergral to it) and actually make it look like he is suspended with nothing holding him using clear acrylic rod disguised by both scenery and the viewpoint of the onlooker.

Excellent job Jabber. Already gave it a vote and shockingly it's only a 7.5?! That doesn't make sense, but then again, it is CMON...
