Here's the latest project. "Boneflail" a Tre Manor sculpt from Reaper. I pretty pleased with the work so far. The fur is getting close to being done, although I need to highlight a few spots. The tunic is mostly done, except I need to brighten the midsection a bit. The metallics I've started, but they've still got a ways to go yet and I'll be rusting them up as well as dirtying the tunic. The shield is just basecoated currently. Bare knuckle critiques wanted!

Jabber, I always find finding flaws in your work a lot of work for me mate... your technique is as every, very well executed.
The snout is awesome. Maybe add a small amount of flesh color to the gum line? This will help break it up from the teeth.
The handle to the mace is a bit flat... I think it is bone? Maybe dirty it up a bit.
Wood grain is looking good.
The base is awesome.
Great work so far.

It looks like everything is coming together nicely to me, its an interesting figure, and when its done lets hope you score another 8 at least!!! I would say though when you get to the base, add some more rocks and muds to make the surface more uneven. It may just be you haven t got to it yet though...?

Looks excellent so far! Gotta agree with mouse about dirtying up the bone a bit. Seems like something that's been in the...dessert (i can never remember which is which...) would have a bit more dirt on it. Can't wait to see the completed model

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I did a fair bit of work on the metallics and dirtied them up quite a bit. The flail is a bugger to photograph, but I still need to do some work on the blends and hit the chain with some spot highlights. I did weather the bone a bit more--good enough, or push it further? Believe it or not I did add a fair bit of red to the midsection; it's just in shadow and I need to get a better photo. The bone belt blacks were highlighted more and I am pleased with how it looks. Finally, I redid the base to a gray (not much more than basecoat currently) and based the 3 different parts of the skin on the shield. I'll be scratching that up as well as putting some blood splatter/streaks on it.

Coming along very nicely there Jabber! The metallics look nice and worn, though i would go just slightly further on the bone, but not by much. The shield looks great as well, though i would try to add something inbetween the stitches to make them stand out a bit more, even just like a simple wash of black so the stitching shows a little more. This guy will look great when he's done.

Looks great Jabberwocky. The metallics are really great, especially the spiked ball. The weathering looks very realistic. The face is also really strong.

Getting close to finishing up (although touch ups and fiddling with it can take me a long time...) I like the weathering on the robe. This was my first go with Tamiya Clear Red for blood and I'm not real happy with it. Suggestions? Perhaps the blood stains need to be darker. I'd also be interested in what people thought about the base as well as the leg wraps; I am toying with changing them to black to match the straps on the torso. I'd love to hear any other critiques as well. Thanks for everything offered up thus far--I really appreciate you all taking the time to evaluate and critique my work!

Well I'm guessing that you finished the mini in the mean time. If not, here's some feedback... The blood looks quite good from my perspective, it's has a good dark colour. On the base it looks very gruesome and realistic. It looks good on the shield too, except that I wonder how those kind of blood stains could come there. You would expect more splatters maybe, but honestly I don't have much experience with bloodly fights I think the base is great as it is. I like the simpler, but very effective bases, it doesn't need to be overly packed with attributes I think. The skulls on the sticks are a great touch. As for the leg wraps, I like the leather look. The black looks like a more harder material (I hope that makes sense), and not very wrappable. If you were to leave them like this, I would at a tiny highlight with a yellow brown. But that's just my taste. I'm looking forward to seeing this mini finished. I must admit that when I first saw the mini I thought it looked a bit strange, but it's definitely growing on me!
