It may be a little early to be confused about this but...i just can't help it! So my previous mini, the Chaos Terminator Lord, was recently put on CMON. I half-assed roughly half of the mini. My Space Hulk minis are also on there, and those i spent hours on trying to make sure they looked as good as i could get them, doing all sorts of layer work and what not. The Terminator Lord currently has a higher score...and i'm just shocked at this...stoked that it has a good score, but still confused

Well I like that lord more as well to be honest, its a more interesting miniature which is probably why it scored higher. The shading on the black cloak looks good, all around solid paint job! I m suprised your dead space marine is at its present score though.

To me, the thing is that all the things i did were extremely simple! The cloak especially! It was just a base coat of black, simply highlights of dark gray, then a black wash. Nothings extremely difficult. The armor was really the same way. A base coat, one level of a lighter color, then two different washes.

Another one of the mysteries of the thing known as CMoN...who knows why it scores the way it does. Some proponents of CMoN will tell you "it is cool MINI or not, not cool PAINTJOB or not", which I find to be complete BS. Yes, certainly some minis are better sculpted than others, but at the end of the day, it is the paintjob you are really voting on. Without a doubt, the brand of mini plays a role--LoTR minis I think get unfairly lower scores. Many of the Reaper minis (IMHO) are the same way. That's not to say these minis can't get good scores, but on average I think they will score lower than a GW mini or something from the smaller European companies.
